I've heard it's not good to eat too much Edamame and should switch to green Garbanzo beans. Does anybody know the reason for this?

Never heard that but I LOVE edmame. It's so yummy in the pods with just a little sea salt...I actually had some at an asian restaurant today!

soy beans/edemame have a lot of estrogen in them and some think it can encorage breast cancer in both males and females. everything in moderation. :)

I believe it's cuz Edamame is soy beans, which are high in estrogen content...and too much estrogen isn't too healthy for males (And for females as well - hormonal issues)....but anything in moderation is fine. As a vegetarian, I rely on tofu (pretty much any soy product) a lot.

Well I'll just tell you why I don't eat them, soy blocks iodine from reaching the thyroid (the only place its absorbed), if I eat soy, then it affects my thyroid, which affects my metabolism which affects my weight. So I avoid soy, even though edamame may seem healthy, I'm terribly sensitive to the estrogenic effects of it all.

As long as they are cooked there is no problem but eating too many raw ones can mess with your digestive system is all that I was told. I'm no expert, though.
