Fats and weight loss/dairy

Okay this might be a really dumb question, so I apologise, buuuuut, if eating FATS isn't actually the problem with weight loss why is it that we have to use skim milk or low fat milk, and low fat cheese/ice-cream/dairy products or LEAN meats, etc.

just curious!

    because higher in fat is generally also quite a bit higher in calories.....
  • Hi, that's a very good question! The reason is, consuming too much fat in one day , one week, one month, and over the years, is not healthy. Too much fat clogs arteries etc and then cause heart problems. Eating some daily fat is very important, because you need it for a healthy diet and for your organs to work properly.

    The problem arises is that it's quite easy to eat tooo much fat in one day. So we end up having to make choices like lowfat milk or skimmed milk that you mentioned, to keep ourselves at the right daily amount. It's so hard to figure it out on your own, but tracking food into my fitnesspal food diary does all the work for you!! I hope that answers your question.
