as other people? I can do the same exercise for the same amount of time and they burn more than me. I understand that the bigger you are the more you burn. Some people are smaller than me though and they burn more. I use an HRM and my heart rate stays between 140-160 and in 56 minutes I burn about 416 calories. Any ideas on why this could be?

Does your HRM have your weight, Max HR, and VO2max settings correct? If any of those 3 are off, your burn won't be correct.0

stop comparing yourself with others. just worry about getting the best possible workout that YOU can get.0

That seems to be about what I burn when I'm running. I'm sure I'd burn more if I ran faster. I miss the higher calorie burns when I was heavy, but I don't miss being heavy. I've noticed my calorie burn is higher for biking, even in a shorter period of time. :flowerforyou:0

Thanks all. I suppose if I am not satisfied with my burns then I should push harder so that is what I will do. I use a Polar FT4 and it does have my weight and max hr but it doesn't have the VO2 feature.0

This - who cares what other people burn?!0 -
Remember to wash your strap. I know if my burns seem off - as in too low, too high, whatever it definitely needs to be cleaned. Also, you may have to adjust your strap to be more secure to your body - you may have lost inches in the bust and it needs to be secure to get as much of an accurate reading as possible. Food for thought.0

Are you comparing your results vs. your MFP friends' results? I have noticed MFP likes to say I burn more than I think I do. I know I'm not alone in this either. It could be that you have a more accurate number while your friends have a less accurate/generic number. Either way, just remember you burn more calories than everyone sitting on the couch, and that's a good portion of people!0
