What have I done???

At some point last night, in my post-golf euphoria....with just a wee bit of alcohol in me, I agreed to do a 15K run in November :noway: . Currently I haven't gotten to the point where I can run a 5k yet (SUPER close though...have a race in 3 weeks). But this is 3 times LONGER! Is it possible for me to train enough between now and then to run 9.3 miles??? :embarassed:

Yes, it possible. You will have to be consistant with your training and have to avoid any layoffs for injury or other reasons.

Try to run 4 times a week and gradually build up a once a week long run to around 20 km. With consistant and dedicated training you will surprised at how quickly you can reach that goal.

I think it is doable--I had a friend who trained for about three months for a half marathon after being a shorter distance runner. You can do it, start doing programs like couch to 5K except for the 10 K or try using a training program for a half marathon. You can do this!

Absolutely! That is months away! Plus there is NO SHAME in having to take some walk breaks!
  • You definitely can! I did the same thing a couple summers ago and then freaked out for a day and a half.
In the end, I found a half marathon training plan and worked my butt off and was sooooo amazed at how my hard work paid off!
You can do it! Just be vigilant and keep your eye on your goal!

Rofl! It's funny how even a wee little bit of alcohol makes us lose our inhibitions. :-)

It is definitely do-able. I would go to www.runnersworld.com and use their smart coach program to set up a training program. It's free, customizable and it will give you some direction on where to go with training. I have used it quite a bit and it is wonderful.

    Good luck!

Heck yeah you can do it! I signed up for my first 5k last year and was freaking out about that, ran it a month later in the beginning of Oct with no problems. Then I decided to see what I could do so I went out and ran 6 miles a couple weeks later with no problems, then ran 10 miles a couple times, then 13.1 on my own on Thanksgiving Day, so less than 2 months after my first 5k. Just get out there and run as much as you can. To me the hardest part is the first mile, then it is just a matter of zoning out and pushing through the miles, they really start to go by pretty quick. Learn to stretch well after your runs, and learn to find your pace. You can definitely do this!
