Sweetners!!!!!

I am so confused about these sugar substitutes. My mother has been using splenda for as long as i can remember but through research ive found some pretty bad stuff on it. So should i switch over to stevia/truvia? It looks as though they are much safer i just dont know how each will hold up taste wise any advice??? Thanks so much!!!

I am with you on the artificial sweeteners. Many people are comfortable taking them, but I am not. I really like stevia, and use it daily! I am suspicious of the truvia brand...although I am not sure why...just want to read the package again to see if it is truly pure stevia extract. I use the stevia Trader Joe's sells, and I really like it. I helps me keep my carb macro low, and I like the taste. Some people don't like the taste, but it may be a matter of becoming accustomed to it.

Actually I am surprised that more products aren't using stevia instead of something artificial. I really wish the PowerCrunch bars would use exclusively stevia instead of splenda...I am going to stop eating them now because of the splenda in them. I think you will like stevia...it's really helpful!

I don't care for that taste of Stevia at all. Xylitol is fabulous (although I hate the chemical sounding name!)...it's a natural sweetener (mostly extracted from the birch tree), and its granular like sugar and tastes just like sugar. On top of that, it's recommended by dentists to promote dental health!

If you watch "hungry for Change" (a great and very enlightening movie about processed sugar and sugar substitutes), Stevia and Xyltitol are the only sweeteners they recommend.

I only use stevia, erythritol and luo han guo (all of which are natural sweeteners).
