So me and hubby had been trying for a baby, i feel i may be pregnant this month. My question is can i still do moderate exercise and carry on healthy eating if im pregnant aslong as i hit the recommended calories for a pregnant woman?
I dont want to go back to eating rubbish and i'd love to keep some what active if i am expecting.
xx

Hi, I've got all digits crossed for you, hoping you get the result you're after this month. :flowerforyou:
Healthy eating and exercise during pregnancy are obviously pretty important (the healthiest 5 months of my life!) but there's really no need to view it any differently than your normal life.
There are certain foods you are advised not to eat (peanuts, soft cheeses etc) but as long as you make sure you're getting enough calcium, fruit, veg, carbs and protein then you're good to go.
As for exercise, take it easy but definitely do keep active, it'll help so much in the long run.
Don't forget, it's not a case of 'eating for two' nor is it an illness. Good luck and as I say, I really hope you get what you're longing for. :happy:0 -
YAY! I'm also trying to conceive, and I feel like I may be pregnant right now, though planning on testing next weekend...
I already have an 8yr old son, and I gained an unhealthy 70+ lbs with him.... I'm trying to stay healthy this time, and I just looked up about pregnancy weight-gain...

you need only about 300 extra calories a day when you're pregnant, fewer during your first trimester
And I'm planning to stay active, walking several miles atleast... A friend of mine just had a baby 2 weeks ago and is back in her pre-preg clothes ALREADY! I realize this is unlikely for me! She said what she did was just stay active through the pregnancy, walk alot, and eat healthy, natural foods...
Good Luck to you! I hope it works out!!0 -
Yes. I am sarcastic. It's just me.
Unless you have a medical reason you can't exercise (not to extremes) ...
...here's what I think
If you have to ask can you continue to eat healthy and exercise if you're now pregnant? Maybe you should get a bit more education on pregnancy before this happens. If you find out you're already carrying a bun in your oven, please for the love of all things holy, seek some help.0 -

THAT isn't sarcastic.... it's rude, immature and mean.... that is all...0 -

Thanks for the very unhelpful post ( Thats not sarcasm either
This would be my second pregnancy thank you very much and no i do not need help. I was referring more to the exercise, i didnt know if it was ok to do much physical activity while carrying such a precious thing thank you very much. I'd rather of asked and know for sure than worried myself about it! When you've been trying for a baby as long as i have you dont want to do ANYTHING wrong and if that makes me look stupid then so be it but your comment is completely uncalled for, sorry im not as well educated on pregnancy as you but you should try make people who are asking genuine questions feel COMFORTABLE to do so without getting sharp sly replys.
Thank you for the replys everyone else. With my daughter i wasnt anywhere near as healthy and gained about 70lbs myself so didnt want to go down that road again by any means

Congrats! Check with your doctor, but usually you can keep doing the same exercises you have been doing. Just make sure that you increase you caloric intake (mine was to 2000 when I was pregnant) but also continue to exercise!0

You know nothing about me. I tried for years and had numerous specialists help to conceive. So maybe you need to reword your question about how MUCH exercise and not about is it ok to continue to eat healthy and moderately exercise. I answered what you asked. I can't read your mind, but I did read what you wrote.0

If it turns out you are pregnant, talk to your doctor to see what and how much you can do exercise wise. It's better to be safe and get a doctors ok.0

Yes, you should plan to exercise while pregnant. Talk to your doctor about what kinds of exercise would be suitable. The main things I got from my doctor were:
* Now isn't the time to take up a brand new program (for example, shouldn't start training for a marathon if you have never run before), but anything you have been doing up to this point is fine.
* Be more careful than usual about overheating...drink more water than usual and pay attention to your body.
* If something doesn't feel right, stop.
Other than that...you're good to go, unless you've been given a specific reason not to (I had to take a few days off when I had some bleeding recently).
Good luck...and keep moving! Guess it's time for me to follow my own advice...I've gotten a big sluggish now that I'm tired all the time and it's been 105 degrees here for 2 weeks. Ugh.0 -

You know nothing about me either so dont tell me i need help before considering getting pregnant thanks, it works both ways. No matter WHAT i was asking it didnt deserve a sly comment like that, people come on here to feel comfortable asking questions. Not for judgemental people to jump in and write completely unhelpful, unecessary comments.0 -
Thank you again everyone for the advice!

Maybe it just was not meant to be, ya think? Maybe you're not MENTALLY stable for a child, and it was divine intervention.... But just because you're still butthurt over it, doesn't mean you're allowed to be douche to other people who actually CAN concieve....0 -
I would ask your doctor these types of things. Only your doctor knows your risk factors, your health, etc. and I would just go by that. Eating healty and just uping the calories might be all you need to do. But again I am not a doctor or know your history. As far as exercise I would think if you are already walking, keep doing it but check with your doctor.
Good Luck0
