Cheat Day

Every once in a while, i'll take a cheat day where I can eat what I want, and usually its not overboard or crazy, and I stay either at my maintenance level or just a little bit over, but then when I go to get back on track and make progress, it takes a good week to get back to where I was(weight wise)? Does this happen to anyone else? & why does this happen? I know there is no way that overeating by 500 calories is going to cause a weight gain of 5 pounds. Yesterday i weighed 140.0 and this morning, I weigh 145?

The scale is a vicious teller of half-truths and lies.
No really, part of the story is probably water weight from excess sodium and unpooped food. Mostly the water. You probably weigh around the same time every day. You're used to seeing your weight from a lighter day, and then after a day in which you consume an extra 500 calories, your body takes more time to process the extra sodium, the extra calories and so you're left with meanwhile-weight.
It's not really 5 pounds, but you know that0 -
I struggle on Sundays. Typically this is the day I have always over eaten my whole life so it's a hard habit to break. Even though I go over my 1200 I never go over 2000 and I've been lucky so far that when I've weighed the next day I haven't actually gained. I think if I ate like 5000 cals I would see a difference but a controlled over eat for me is ok at the moment.
I agree though that your extra weight is most likely temporary and will shift itself in no time so don't worry about it too much.0 -
I eat more on the weekend, and my weight can go up and stay that way for several days, If I really go overboard for on day, I can lose a weeks progress (not lose any weight and put on 5 pounds temporary fake scale weight) unless I go workout extra and/or reduce my intake.0

I try to get in more activity on the weekend because I know I'm more likely to eat over goal than other days. I didn't have trouble THIS weekend, but sometimes there is a party, a restaurant outing or three, a birthday, a cake... One day I had already kind of eaten more than planned and then had to go to a cookout. Dude, people look at you weird when you don't eat at a cookout. Not only that, they will keep asking you questions. "Do you not eat meat??" "Don't you think this looks delicious, yum yum??" "Are you sure you don't want a cupcake at least???" "You don't need to diet."
Sorry, guess I brought my personal issues to this one XD0
