I weigh myself every day but I only log weight loss. Seems to work for me.

I go in spurts... sometimes every day, sometimes every few days, sometimes every week or more. It just depends on how I feel. If I feel like I"m making progress, I'll hop on the scale... we're sort of frienimes though.

I weight every morning. It does not drive me crazy and helps me stay on-track. I could do a lot of damage if I waited a week, but that's just me.

I have a hard time waiting til Friday morning too, so I usually do a preliminary weigh in on Thursday or Wednesday. I only log weight loss, unless it's my "end of the month report" I do on Facebook, then I log whatever it is. XD

A lot of people are saying "I do X" which is fine but I think it's important to clarify that the OP did ask how often you SHOULD weigh yourself, not just how often you do. If you actually think you SHOULD do it every day or whatever, I'd be interested to hear why.

Understood, but it's a bit of a nebulous area, as everyone has different - and equally valid - reasons for doing it how they do it. There's no medical reason for choosing one way over another, apart from choosing one rule and sticking to it - it's all a matter of preference. I think people are just trying to give a broad view of what is being done.

I weigh myself every day, but I am prepared to see fluctuation and know that I shouldn't be disappointed because I'm still losing inches. I think people should only weigh themselves every day if they understand fluctuation and do not take the numbers too seriously.

Oh I know that, that's why I asked. I am genuinely interested in whether there is an actual reason people weigh every day, other than just being a bit over keen.

I do have to disagree on one point though, there IS a medical reason not to weigh everyday which is as I stated earlier about water retention. I'm not saying you can't, obviously, but just pointing out why it's not advisable, particularly if you are the kind of person who might be badly demotivated by seeing a big gain from one day to the next.
  • i weigh myself everyday before the gym. It lets me know how i am doin everyday but i work out 7 days aweek on a elliptical.

Weigh yourself as often as you'd like, but only compare figures from 7-10 days before and understand that fluctuations are natural..

I weigh every day. For me the data is as interesting as the result - I plot my daily weight, calories, exercise, and body composition and watch for trends.

I weigh every day... have learned from it and how my body reacts to certain foods and exercise etc. it doesnt frustrate me. It helps me keep on track and be able to react accordingly if needed.
