Shoes would be a good start. If you run on the sidewalk or the street you might try an out door track what is also padded. Finally, running everyday is really hard on the legs and ankles. You might try every other day instead. I know that sounds bad, but reality is our bodies are not made for running that often withou the joints beginning to swell and hurt.

I wear asics and I have had them for a year. If I am overdoing it why is it that it is not a consistent hurt then?

Could be so many different things, all of which are impossible to diagnose over an internet forum.

Pay the money to see a decent sports physiotherapist, it will be well worth it.

What if I got some sole inserts do you know if they work?

Yeah, you'll probably want to replace those shoes. The rule of thumb is every 300 - 500 miles unless you're in the minimalist camp.

If you don't warm up before running, start warming up.
If you don't stretch, start stretching.

Yeah I don't stretch but will it really make a difference if I do? Yeah maybe I should walk alittle bit before I just randomly start running

They might, they might not...that's kinda my point.

It could be your running style, your shoes, a postural issue, a tight muscle, lack of mobility in your hip.....could be anything. It;s better to get someone who actually knows what they are doing to have a look than random guesses on a forum.

Make you are using correct form. If you run hunched over it could put extra stress on the hips.

See a qualified doctor. Don't self-diagnose with shoes until then.

I hurt when I ran. Couldn't even get past 2 miles jogging/walking without pain in lower back. I shrugged it off as "old age" and new to exercise..blah blah blah. Come to find out I have a fractured vertebra. Now Physical therapy 3 times a week .....

Don't take this lightly until you find out for sure.

I've never found a lot of luck in seeing sports specialists, mainly because no matter who I went to had several different opinions and none really ever wanted to diagnosis, just wanted to give me meds or tell me to quit doing what I was doing. I found a lot of success with working with a therapuetic massage therapist, physical therapist, and other alternative sources.

Do you have a foam roller, this has been my best running aid I've found. Really can help open hips and soothe sore muscles.
Stretch more... add some yoga one or two days a week.
Work on hip strengthening as well, runner's are notorious for weak hips - squats and lunges help too.

It would depend on my level of pain, how often it was occurring, and whether my non-medical options had failed me before I went in. My locals options are limited and I find that my home treatments generally solve most problems vs expensive xrays, tests, exposure to radiation, etc, just for an occasional pain. Just my opinion, find the right dr is more important than just going to anyone.
