I am a server and I work through lunch 5 days out of 7. I am trying to eat 6 times a day but seeing as I work through lunch and don't get done until 3pm I am either eating lunch at 3-4 pm then dinner late because i'm full or i am just skipping lunch which isn't good. Anyone have any suggestions for something that will hit my caloric intake approx( 400 calories) as well as keep me satisfied and is quick to munch on while I am on shift. Anything would be much appreciated!!!

I get a few quick breaks at work and I tend to pack things like this:
-cheese sticks/sliced cheese (off the block, not Kraft, lol)
-almonds/walnuts (I usually have a quarter of a cup I put in a plastic baggie)
-fruit
-yogurt/pudding cups
-crackers with Laughing Cow Cheese/peanut butter
-pre-made quesadillas (put some beans, corn, cheese, rice, etc. on a tortilla, flatten out into a quesadilla, wrap in plastic and freeze...microwaves in a minute and tastes great!)
-pre-made sandwiches (PB/J, turkey, ham, etc.)
-rice/bean bowl (put some rice and beans in a baggie, maybe with some cheese/green peppers/onions/corn/etc., freeze, then take to work and microwave)
-microwavable meals (Healthy Choice, Lean Cuisine, etc.)
It really helps if you either pack a lunch before heading to work or the night before when you have ten or so minutes of free time on hand. Saves money and skips the temptation of the vending machine.
Sorry for the lack of calorie counts...I do know from experience that the quesadilla that I mentioned and a piece of fruit (apple or peach for me) is about 400 calories. Hope that helps!0 -
YUM! That quesedilla sounds delicious!! I will be adding to my list!
Sorry I don't have more advise, no quick meals except the normal wraps, protein/meal shakes, etc.0 -
Any kind of protein powder shake. Fast and easy to make and it will hit the mark with calories and protein. I use Visalus personally. But there are many kinds. Look at calorie content, you want it fairly low, and low carb (b/c mine is) and good protein and fiber and vitamins/minerals.
You can find them at health food stores and weight or muscle building fitness stores ...
Mine is two scoops of powder some milk, some water some chocolate powder and wa la - a meal. Takes almost o time.
My program is two shakes a day for lunch and breakfast with raw food snack in between and a sensible 400-500 calorie dinner.
But if your rush is in the evening switch it up. Make a nice lunch and sake for dinner and breakfast.
Hope this helps.0 -
BTW, your also in Ontario!! Add me and let me know how it goes.0
