Calf Pain - how long till I can run again?

Yesterday I woke up with a tight calf and its a continuous pain, I can walk with some discomfort but wouldnt be able to run at the moment.

I think caused from a bike ride (not my usual exercise) which I did on saturday.

Has anyone else had similar problems, how long did it take to recover fully before you started exercising again? Do you have any tips to speed recovery?

Obviously I am going to rest until the pain goes or do exercises that dont irritate it, but then I have my first 5k race on 22nd July and am desperate to do it.

Well, i had a kettlebell session on thursday and i could not walk! It hurt so bad. On friday all i could manage was a ten min walk on the treadmill. They took the whole weekend to recover! That was just my thighs though but my calf hurt yesterday before i went to the gym and it got worse the more i ran, but i pushed through it, even though i was limping haha They're a bit better today. I think it all depends on the person. We all deal with pain differently so we deal with recovering differently too. Have some hot baths and make someone run around for you :)

Magnesium supplements might be in order.

Those foam rollers are really good at giving a deep massage, one of those may help. I'm planning on buying one soon as in the past I've tried them at the gym and they're brilliant!

Hope you're calf's better soon
