I recently lost 50 pounds (still have 25 more to go) and was wondering when i should start toning? I work out 6 days a week and do 45min-1 hour of cardio and a 30 minute circuit training room. I have noticed since i lost the weight i have loose, jiggly skin that needs to go away! I have a hard time giving up my cardio time for weight lifting so I was wondering if it's bad to wait until i have lost all of the weight?

I've been lifting since the start of my weightloss. It's something I honestly love, and the only loose skin on my body is my lower abdomen, which is only to be expected with two kids 18 months apart and the youngest only 9 months old.

You should weight lift as a part of your routine! Make sure you go heavy

I do cardio 4 days a week, and strength training 3( I love Jillian Micheal's 30 day shred, and instanty)
They both helped toning wise because I hate the machines at the gym.

Don't give it up just share your time...lol

Start now. I recently started after losing 100 pounds and wish I'd started sooner. I don't lift heavy, but do lift consistently, and it's made a big difference in my body just in the last 4-5 weeks.

Reduce the cardio and add in weight training like now! 2 or 3 cardio sessions and 2 or 3 weight sessions will be good. If you are having trouble recovering cut one cardio session. Look at Stronglifts 5x5, Starting Strength or New Rules OF Lifting For Women.

Do it immediately. I wish I did, it would've taken me less time to get to where I am now.

I started with NROL4W which is great if you're new to strength training.

"Muscle burns more fat. Weight training is increasingly recommended as a fat-busting tool because some experts say extra muscle burns more energy than body fat at rest, so if you develop more muscle and have a higher muscle to fat ratio than before, you must burn extra energy and more stored fat as a result."

I've seen this on several sites,

Just for accuracy's sake, the amount that muscle burns more than fat is only about 6 calories per day per pound of added muscle. Negligible at best. Also, the OP, or anyone for that matter, who is eating in a deficit will not add new muscle tissue. That doesn't negate the benefits of strength training. It is an awesome fat burner and has a very high EPOC, you get leaner, stronger and have all kinds of great and healthy hormonal responses. Plus you will look great! It is very hard to add muscle tissue and virtually impossible in a calories deficit. You can however develop the muscle tissue you have to great positive effect!
