Going to the movies -I need to step away from the popcorn

It is summer and I need to keep my son busy. We are going to the movies today and I have a hard time not buying the popcorn, the snacks the candy etc. I need some suggestions. I can bring or buy a bottle of water. Anyone have suggestion of healthier munchies to snack on at the movie?

I always bring a bag of my own fat free popcorn and portion it out to what I can have for that day. That way you still get the enjoyment of popcorn at the movies, but its not so bad for you.0

i always take my favourite fruits the ones i cant normally afford to buy all the time, so it acts like a treat. I take strawberrys, melon fingers and grapes0

Normally popcorn at the movies doesn't bother, but my husband and I went to see "TED" yesterday and I indulged. Today I think I'm paying the price from all that salt and butter. Normally I do what everyone suggested, but my brain was still overexcited from the weight I had lost the day before and decided I had to gain it back. Dinner didn't go any better. Take it from me. It isn't worth it. Be strong.0

Time your movie directly after a meal so you will be less likely to get that unhealthy (and outrageously expensive) movie junk. Better yet- take only enough cash to get your tickets and leave your wallet locked in your car.0

I eat a protein bar before I go, or sneak it in. Protein keeps you fuller, longer.
Since you don't want to pound a lot of water before a movie, that trick is out.
I bring in roasted salted sunflower seeds. I like to eat one at a time, for that hand snacking action, and they are salty so they match the popcorn craving. Sunflower seeds are high in calories, so, you have to watch your serving size, but, loaded with the good fats and other nutrients that your body needs.
This time of year, you have lots of fresh options, like cherry tomatoes and blueberries.
A medium movie popcorn with NO butter is about 900 calories, with zero nutritional value. Add a soda to that and you've had about a days worth of calories with no health benefit.
