Ladies' question!

Hi, there! I am new to MFP...this is my first week, and, of course, I chose the week before my period to start (ugh)!! I decided to weigh myself weekly, and since I started last Wednesday, I should be weighing myself tomorrow, which will be day 2 of my period. I was wondering how you ladies handle weighing in while on your period. Should I wait a whole other week before weighing myself? Or should I step on the scale tomorrow with the expectation of possibly carrying a few pounds of bloat? I have been drinking tons of water and continuing to work out, I just don't want to get discouraged. Any suggestions? Thanks!

The weight is only a number. It's how much better you feel that really counts. But I can totally understand not wanting to get discouraged. Maybe dont weigh in this week? I dont have a period anymore so I'm not really sure how I would handle this if it were me personally.0

I did the exact same thing last month when I first started MFP! Don't sweat it...skip the scale this week. You'll be even more excited when it drops much lower the next time you weigh in!0

Personally I would wait, I'm always up on the scale until at least halfway through my cycle.0

^ agree, weight is only a number. To be honest, my first period since joining MFP had me losing 2 lbs that week! My second? Maybe a few ounces lol But I didn't get discouraged. If you feel like you may not stick with it if you don't see a loss... then don't weigh. But if you're in it for he long haul, regardless of what the scale says, than weigh! Can't hurt. You can always weigh again when that TOM has passed and you should see results then0

True, I know it's not the number on the scale that counts. I think I'll probably wait till next week, but sometimes it's so hard to wait because I want to see some progress so badly! I know it takes time, though. Thanks!0

I hop on the scale regardless. I weigh in every week. So there's going to be one week out of the month that will be around 'that time'. I just get on knowing that its probably not as low as the reality really is.
In the short time I've been on here, I haven't weighed in and had a 'gain' due to it though. So maybe if thats what you're worried about, yah, maybe always skip weighing in that particular week.0 -
I always weigh in. Even if it is my TOM, then I get used to the fluctuation month-month. Sometimes it is a bit scary to see the number go up a few lbs. I do not put it in my progress on mfp, it is more for my personal peace of mind.0

Just skip weighing in on Wed, wait until Friday or Saturday, once some of the bloat has left, and change your weigh in days.0

I'm in that week right now too, and I weighed but I weigh every day. I actually have a 2 lb loss today! I don't get too crazy on the number though, I use it to learn about my normal daily fluctuations. I also only enter it as an "official" weigh in when I hit a new low, even if it takes a while to get to it, ha ha.0

I weigh once a month, usually the week after that time. I was weighing weekly, daily, whenever, but it was too discouraging. If it went up, I'd say h*$^ with it and eat. Did me no good!0
