Hi all, I've been on MFP for a while, but I'm looking to expand my community for support. In particular, I'm interested in training for a triathlon. Due the timing of my weight-loss, increased fitness levels, finishing a graduate degree, getting a new job, and moving in a few weeks for said job (to Kentucky), it's not going to happen this year. But it's on like donkey kong next tri season. If you're similarly interested or just want to expand your support network, friend me :-)

Congrats on your goals!!! Feel free to add me. I'm 26, still going to school and I am also interested in training for a tri this year. I've only done a sprint tri before which is still challenging. The hardest part aside from doing the whole thing is actually finding open water to train in. I'm from Texas but training in the temp controlled pool at the gym is not the same. Eventually I'll go for a full tri. I also like to do mud races and 5k, 10ks and this year I'll be running my first half marathon in November

I did my first sprint tri last summer and it was a lot of fun! This year was a gong show (moved cross-country for work, got married, job turned insane, etc etc) but I want to get back to the training! Right now I'm working on getting my running back up - doing C25K for the umpteenth time!
  • Hey there! I started doing "triathlons" (such as we could) in Kabul and whole I technically completed a near-half Ironman distance in May, I'm still a very weak swimmer and feeling less than prepared for an Olympic distance I have coming up... But I love the intensity and diversity of Tri training and at the peak it was really helping me manage my weight and feel stronger. Would love to add more Tri friends from MFP - please add me if you'd like!

Im looking to start triathlons as well actually it would be good to have a specific 'buddy' or few for that matter interested in training for this to share ideas and the like
  • It's great to see so many people interested in triathlons. I just did my first Ironman in November and it was amazing. (Did an Oly and Half-Iron before that). Good luck! Remember, with the right motivation and determination, you WILL FINISH it! (without DQ-ing :) )
