Total gym

I am concerned since I don't want to loose and am starting on a total gym for strength training but the numbers for strength training on calories burned seem low compared to the energy I seem to be putting out compared to aerobics or even walking . Any advice on this?

It's not a huge calorie burner but it's hugely beneficial to your body in many ways. What sort of calorie burn estimates are you getting?0

I am just putting it under strength training at this point I couldn't find any calculations and that puts it at at 87 for 30 minutes which seems low0

I don't log strength training calories burned that MFP has because IMO it's crap. Sometimes my heart gets pumping, like when I'm doing squats, other times not really so I'm guessing my "burn" would be negligible. I'll put what I did for my strength and how long in the note section but I really only track the cardio that I do.0

I love my total gym! I generally log it as circut training. But only if I get my heart rate up and break a sweat.0

I don't log my strength training calories. The burn is lower than a cardio burn, but the "after burn" will stay with you many hours after you are done -something cardio doesn't do. It's also difficult to say how hard you are training. It's all relative. For these reasons (among others), it's really hard to determine just how many calories you "actually" burn strength training. So I don't even worry about it and only track cardio with a heart rate monitor (which is still only an estimate).0
