Hey guys, I live in Upstate NY around the buffalo area. My new job is about 8 miles away from my house and I have to bike home every day. The problem is, I'm not sure what kind of biking i should be logging. For me this ride is very intense because of the massive hills that are around the area where i work. If you guys have any advice i'd appreciate it.

what is your activity level set to?
  • personally, i would just up your activity level to account for the commute and eat that level of calories consistently :)

Or invest in a heart rate monitor. You can find decent ones on Ebay for $30 or less.

I have it set to vigorous because of the size and the amount of hills

maybe set it to very active to cancel out the bike ride.. my job is lightly active but I keep my settings on active because i log my cardio but do not log my weight training, so it helps make up the difference, you could try that or get a hrm if you want to be closer on the calories you burn on the trip, or if you don't like them options just guess like you have been doing some of mfps's estimates can be close
