HRM and calories burned

Right now, I am doing c25k. I am doing each week twice and am currently completing week three. Soon after I started doing c25k, I bought my first HRM. The first few times I used it doing c25k, I burned around 300 calories. Then, once I got to week two, I was burning around 215. Now, in week three, I'm lucky if I get to 200. I don't feel as though I am doing anything different, I still push myself and my overall sessions have always been around 30 minutes long. Also, I always wear my chest strap in the same place. Has anyone else experienced this or have any insight into why this is happening? I still feel like I am getting a good workout, but I'm a little frustrated, especially when my friends on here are burning 3x as many calories as I am doing similar exercise.

I'm not doing C25K, but I experienced something similar when I started working out. Like you, at first my burns were awesome! Now, after consistently doing 3 cardio sessions per week for the last 3 months, my burns aren't so great. My non-expert thoughts are that since our hearts are getting fitter and healthier (meaning more efficient) they don't have to work as hard as they used to when we first started.
It's a double-edged sword...we're getting healthier (great!) but now we're having to work twice as hard to get the #s we need/expect (bummer!).0
