I have a Polar FT4 with a chest strap. Basic HRM and I do not notice the chest strap at all.

The HRM's with the chest strap are the most accurate. Why don't you want one? I have the Polar FT4 and I can't even feel mine when it's on. It's very comfy and doesn't have to be 'tight' for it to work correctly.
  • Oh, really? Thats good to know, I thought it'd be irritating to wear thats all :)

There are none. No chest strap means you must touch the contacts on the wrist watch part with your fingers to get a momentary reading. There will be no continuous read for that type of HRM. The chest strap is required for continuous hr info. An HRM that does calories burned computations uses the average heart rate over the time of your workout (along with other personal info that you program into the device during set-up) to calculate your calorie burn.
  • oh ok, thankyou! I'll get one with a chest strap, :)
