.. you finish eating and exercising for the day and are pretty far UNDER your calorie goal? Like today I have 600 left. Some days more.

Eat more throughout the day. Add more calorie dense foods like oils, nut butters, avocados, chocolate, or a high cal casein protein shake to top off the night.0

Drink red wine.
Come to think of it, I do that anyway regardless0 -
I do drink protein. I suppose I could add stuff to my protein shake.. make it more delicious. Typically I don't plan on being way under. The problem is when I work out at the end of the day and a lot of times I will get in the mood of things and have a crazy burn.0

If I'm not hungry I go to sleep. The whole point is to get rid of mindless eating. If I don't eat my exercise deficit I won't die.
There was a week in June where I averaged 600 a day left over, anywhere from 400 to 1000, depending on how much exercise. OTOH this week I was overeating several times because I had to skip some workouts cause of heat and exhuastion. It all averages out.
Now if it happened that day after day I was below by a significant amount - then I would review and wonder why this was happening. Could be an overestimate of calories burned or an under estimate of calories eaten.0 -

You can eat your calories back the next day. Many people on MFP are looking more for the weekly calorie balance instead of daily. You won't go into starvation mode if you are under on one day if that is what you're scared of.0 -
When it's one day I don't worry, but I do allow myself a bit of slack if I'm unexpectedly hungry the next day.0

This :drinker:0 -
I typically make myself a snack of Greek yoghurt (10% fat) and brown sugar (20g of sugar per 100g of yoghurt).
Gets me some easily accessible carbs and a relatively nice amount of protein.....eat it while surfing my favorite websites for BBQ-enthusiasts and head to bed.0 -

Save the extra calories for the weekend. Or for the next day. Our bodies don't work on a 24 hour clock so it is ok to carry over some calories and use them within a couple of days x0 -
If I'm way under I have a spoonful of peanut butter to make up some calories but if it's just 100 or so calories I don't bother and make it up at some point in the week.0

I mainly train in the evening after work, so to avoid nasty surprises after big sessions, I pre-log the exercise as it makes it easier to eat a little bit more throughout the day rather than trying to eat loads just before bed when you're not actually THAT hungry.
I also started to use nuts as an easy small volume / high calorie food.0 -
I tend to find I need the extra calories the following day so I don't stress about it. I think looking at your intake over a week is a more realistic and healthier method.0

If I'm netting under 1200 calories (which happens a fair amount when I cycle) I'll eat to net 1200, other wise I only eat if I fancy a bite of supper. I didn't worry about it before I started on MFP so why worry about it now?0

Ditto. I always try and net the minimum of 1200 but some days I do more exercise than others so it does balance it self out. I know if I dont eat enough I'm crabby and tired the next day.0 -

I could use those up for you :laugh:0

On the days I exercise, I eat more throughout the day IF I'm hungry enough. If I have some over at the end of the day and yet I'm full, I don't feel I need to eat them back.
I like knowing that I will be exercising and hence if I'm starving, I'll have a healthy snack and some fruit.0
