Measuring Calories in Basmati Rice

Hi All,
Trying to find the right calorie measurement of Maharajah's Choice - Basmati Rice.
It says here on the MFP database that 150g (1 cup) is 161 calories, I'm assuming this in its uncooked form.
I'm wondering if anyone can shed some light on how this translates to when it is cooked?
**Does 1 cup uncooked equal to 2 cups cooked?
**Do the calories double up when the rice is cooked?
How do people track their calories when it comes to rice?
Thanks alot in advance.

When it comes to rice I usually add dry while searching for an ingredient if I want to facts for before it's cooked. However, in this case it doesn't have the choice for dry so I did a search of generic bismati rice thinking it can't be too different from that.
I did this because when it come to rice, the dry rice normally cooks up to about 3x the dry amount and 161 calories seemed like waaaay too little for that. Sure enough, the generic comes back with about 200 calories for one cup cooked.
161 calories is the calorie count for 1 cup of cooked rice.0 -
I agree with g00dm0rning, that measurement in the database has to be for cooked rice. According to the USDA, a cup of uncooked rice weighs in at 185g whereas cooked it is 158g. Of course that is for standard long-grain white rice, the closest they have to Basmati.
I don't use Basmati rice, doesn't it have a nutrition label on the package?0 -

no..unfortunately not. it does have everything in there except the nutritional info.
Even their website does not contain any info on it:indifferent:
thanks guys, based on this I've edited the entry in MFP to represent cooked just to avoid confusion for other people as well.
unless others have something else to say on the matter.0 -
Raw white basmati rice is 359kcal per 100g (ref. Chughtai and Khan 1960).
I've not got a cooked figure for basmati, however:
10 samples of 9 brands of Easy cook, raw white rice is 383kcal per 100g
And the same boiled is 138kcal.0
