A few questions for runners

I've been running 5k since the end of April. I've decided I want to up my distance and get to a 10k. So far the farthest I've ran is 4 miles twice prior to last night. Last night I ran 2 miles then had to stop (treadmill running) to tend with my children. Like 20 min later I was able to get back on a ran 2 more miles. Is that even effective in being able to run 4 miles together when i was done on a "interval"

Also I swear I have adult ADD...After like 1.5 miles...I'm bored and that makes it harder to finish my run. I listen to music, but I'm wondering about other options. It's not as bad when I run outside, but I don't get to run outside much due to crazy heat and husbands crazy work schedule (no one to keep kids) Any ideas

Thanks

2 + 2 does not equal 4 in terms of running benefit. If only

I have no input on treadmills. I am bored to death on them as well and avoid them at all cost.

I've heard that audio books are good to listen to for runners who get bored on treadmills. Hope this helps! Good luck!

If its available to you where you are working out on your treadmill, I find that watching a movie really helps to keep your mind off the running and you can go a lot further because you are into the movie and not thinking too much.

bump... I'm looking for running suggestions too. I'm getting close to being able to finish a 5K. I'm finishing up C25K right now.

I'd thought about a movie...it's not possible at this point, but in a few months when we get moved it will be. i'm gonna have to look into audio books.
  • I get bored easily too. So I use audio books. Which I adore. Makes you look forward to your run so you can continue your book.
