I moved from the south to New England and there isn't any proper barbecue here. It's sad. Not really something I can make myself or bring back with me, so I just have it when I go for a visit.

There is a horrible thing to miss out on! NO BBQ better than the south!

im moved from Michigan to Mississippi and dearly miss our Kogel hot dogs! Whenever we drive back for a visit we always bring a bunch back with us.

Kogel's are the best! Serve the Curve! Especially at A&W in Michigan. Best. Coney. Dogs. Ever.

I moved from Canada to Denmark and missed everything - donuts, triscuits, AW root beer, Arby´s, perogies... That was 20 some years ago. Then when we were visiting in Canada I missed the Danish rye bread and breakfast buns (rundstykker)!
Now I miss all of these things no matter where ever I am after have been diagnosed with celiac disease.

We moved from Biloxi, MS to Fort Knox, KY and I miss crawfish and Barq's Red Creme Soda.... There is only one gas station near us that sells it and it's out of the way, but when we pass it up and we think about it, my husband will stop and grab me one. He's awesome. LOL
OMG! I lived in Biloxi too. I miss this little place there next to the casino that sold raw oysters. It blew away with Katrina tho.

Moved from Philly to Maryland...found a place that makes decent cheesesteaks, but still looking for a good hoagie :(

ACK! We could be twins! I also moved from the Philly area to MD and haven't had a good hoagie since. (Of course,m I suppose I don't want to have to actually log a Hoagie... ) I've also had a hard time finding good pizza... sigh.

Lived in Connecticut for a while. I miss the fresh seafood! And this one pizza place that had the most amazing pizza. I've never had any even remotely like it.

Grew up in southern Indiana. We had grippos! They're the nummiest BBQ chips ever
People there fry their chicken in them. I always say I wont eat them when I'm home and I always do

I so miss good seafood. I'm afraid of seafood here in Kentucky. I guess catfish would probably be ok since they are on farms, but I won't dare do shrimp. LOL And YAY for southerners! haha People consider Kentucky the south, but this definitely isn't what I grew up with. No offense to the Kentuckians. haha I like it here, but it's not "home".

When I moved from Texas to California I missed Whataburger Hamburgers and BBQ

When I moved from California back to Texas I missed El Pollo Loco and In/Out Burger. We now have an In/Out burger here and I've had it once... It wasn't the same.
I now can't stand Whataburger... so I'm not sure what I missed.
I LOVE TEXAS BBQ!!!! I will never leave Texas again because I can't live without BBQ.

When you move a state, a country or a continent away the food changes, not just the healthy stuff.

Some of it you can learn to make, some of it you find the equivalent and some you just can't figure out. Maybe someone here can help figure out how to make it.

I'm from the UK and missed Scotch Eggs, store bought Pork Pies, English Bread (yes it tastes different), English Heinz baked beans and Bacon.

Scotch eggs and Bread I can now make,

The pork pies are a mystery to me, how do you make that dark pastry!!!!

English Bacon I have to get when I get off the plane at Heathrow.

What can you not get where you are?

(I brought back Baked Beans last time I visited, the customs guy X-Ray'd my bag and said "Ah, Crisps and Baked Beans". I asked how he could tell from an X-Ray what was in the cans, he said after Crisps, Baked Beans are one of the most popular things Brits bring back to the US lol)

I live in the UK and hate all the foods you miss!! Lol

I'd gladly organise a constant supply if you can organise one to me for dim sims from Australia!! Ooooooo I miss them and in exactly 2 weeks I'll be on my way back to Aust for a holiday and will be indulging rather often in them! I miss Australia's top deck chocolate too. :(

I know what you mean, I grew up in Key West. I can't say the Key Lime pie is ever as good as it was back home.

I miss greasy TexMex, specifically The Mexican Inn in Fort Worth (which I just heard closed anyway) even though I prefer more authentic Mexican here in CO, and I really miss fresh seafood from the east coast.

    ETA: Whataburger!
