Nike+

Does anyone have the Nike+ watch and chip for the runner. I'm wondering if you find the calorie count to be accurate. I walked nearly 10km today with a pram in quite hilly terrain, my watch says I burned 666cals. Does this seem okay.

Thanks

I would...i miss mines when i used to walk the park. I'll take it over the treadmill since the nike plus is more personal.

It usually assumes you are on a flat surface and you are are running.

For hills I would up them 2-5%, unless it was all uphill and no downhill, in which case I would add quite a bit more if the uphill was significant. If the hills are rolling you get more out of the uphills but give some (not all) on the downhills.

For walking I would take off 10-20% since you are not hopping from foot to foot the whole way. Unfortunantly there is no option to tell the watch what type of exercise you are doing.

I use it for running and it is pretty dead on with any other counter, calculator or tool I have tried.

I just started using the Nike+ App yesterday for Android. I dont have the watch yet. Ran 2 Miles, says I burned 275 Calories, not sure if its correct but look forward to using it more and messing around with it more.

I usually use it for running too and find them calories more accurate. Love the watch and the matching site though.

Thanks for all the replys, might take 10% off for walking then.

I find it overestimates my calorie burn vs my HRM be about 10-20% on average.
