Results of RMR and BF Testing

I went this morning to the University and had my RMR tested and my BF using the BOD POD. The results were surprising to me. I'm a slow loser and really wanted to blame my metabolism (I have hypothyroidism and PCOS so it made sense to me). But apparently, I can't LOL.
BMR Estimates:
Harris-Benedict Formula: 1582
Katch-McArdle Forumla: 1470
Actual: 1662
BF Estimates:
Fat 2 Fit Radio Custom Body Fat Calculation: 27.6% (LAUGHABLE!)
Military Body Fat Calculation: 44%
Covert Bailey Body Fat Calculation: 28.5% (also LAUGHABLE)
Livestrong: 42.14%
Actual: 39.2%
So, those are how my values compare to the estimates. Thought it might help someone else decide if they should get the testing done.

This is so interesting. I've thought about having similar tests done. Can I ask you how much it cost? Feel free to PM me if you'd rather not post it.0

Interesting. Thanks for posting.
Someone posted that their thyroid doc said 95% of the people who come to him thinking they have a slow metabolism, don't.0 -
Very interesting! I am interested in the cost as well. I too have hypothyroidism.0

I would love to have those tests done bc I'm having a hard time losing any weight. I also have pcos and am only taking yasmin & spironolactone for it. I have no idea where to go in my area to have those tests done though I've googled it in the past & never found anything0

Yeah, going to have this done at my local university who have a bodpod, out of curiosity. They charge £20 for it here in my Uk city, which isn't too bad at all.0

How do you find out who and where to go? I have a few Universities near me but no clear where to start looking.0

Someone posted a link somewhere that would help you locate a BOD POD. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find that link again. When I emailed the contact from that website for the University, I asked them about RMR testing and they said they did that too.
Our University health system (University of Michigan) is actually pretty expensive. So, the Bod Pod cost $75 and the RMR cost $150. But, it was a block from my office so I was OK paying the premium for the U.
Universities with medical schools are likely to at least do the RMR testing. They won't all have BOD PODs though. The group that does it here was called "Laboratory for Physical Activity and Exercise Intervention Research (PAEIR)" so look up exercise physiology at your local university and contact them and ask.
I'm glad I got the testing done, especially the BOD POD since my actual BF % is better than most of the calculators told me (no way was I believing one that said 27%, but I really hoped 44% or 45% wasn't true LOL).0
