Introduction & Journaling

I am new to this, but if this board operates like college classrooms, this is where I begin. I am in Texas and this is the first time I have seriously attempted a reduced carb diet. I found a great food journal at a website called built lean. It includes columns for recording calories, carbs, proteins, and fats. You record your glasses of water, your mood and time of day. I have found it to be very handy.

Welcome, I just started utilizing this website myself, after a friend told me how successful it was for him. So you are attempting a reduced carb diet? Good luck with that. I understand if you cut out any thing white and sugar you'll do well. Let me know how you are doing!0

In MHO, reduced carb diets and ones that require a lot of complicated rules to follow and different foods to eat, not eat, etc., is simply too difficult for the common person to acheive or to stick with for any appreciable amount of time (e.g 12-36 months -- where real life change happens). This is the beauty of MFP, where it's success comes from adhearence to the daily calorie allowance. With MFP, there's no need to bury yourself, questioning whether you've eaten a whole grain this, a legume that, and so on. Track your calories, exercise daily (even if it's just walking) and add those calories in to eat even more per day and you're off to the races... There's simply no better way to make subtle changes that are sustainable.0

Thank you both for your replies. As I learn more about this site, I see that I can record my meals; I need to explore all the tools available. I have found that the "diet" I am on is rather easy if you put thought into it, and of course, stock the pantry accordingly. I am slowing getting my husband to start thinking along these same lines. I have seen a slight drop in my weight within one week. And I'm not starving!! I actually feel better; not so sluggish.0
