Ideal protein and Body by Vi

The hype around these products has made me want to post about the fact that you are simply being ripped off. If you replace 2 full meals a day with 120 calorie shakes it is absolutely inevitable that you WILL lose weight. The nutritional facts in a Ideal protein shakes and Body by Vi are almost 100% the same as what you get in any of your health food protein shakes...no different. Its called CALORIE reduction, there is no magic potion in these drinks - its just reducing your calories period.

I am a firm believe in kick starting weight loss to inspire the movement towards more weight loss however, anything much greater than a 15lb kick start is going to be gained back within the next 3 months as you will inevitably need to eat more food.

I have known many people who have done these diets and gotten a boat load of results - 20,40 and 60lbs but man they gain it back fast and usually with a few extra pounds to boot.

If you choose to do a dramatic calorie reduction diet remember...you cannot maintain this long and your body enters starvation mode so when it does get the food back it holds on for dear life. These are things you can do in moderation - 2-3 weeks max to lose up to 12-15lbs, if you have more to lose then you need proper nutrition and to follow the calorie outlines for your body on this website.

Weight loss is very simple and we complicate it;

CALORIES IN VS. CALORIES OUT
KEEP IT SIMPLE AND BEST OF LUCK : )

    My friend is on the Ideal Protein Diet. She eats literally ZERO carbs a day...I don't understand how she can do that. She's been on it for awhile and lost 90 pounds. I bet a simple calorie deficit and some exercise would have given her the same result, maybe not as fast, but she would have been able to have a few carbs once in awhile. My point is, I agree with you.

    Thanks everyone for your comments. I wrote this more as a reminder to myself than for any other reason. I too am a victim of the instant weight loss. I want to lose that weight over night but at 43 years of age and a lifetime of yoyo dieting I should know better...sure i get to feel skinny for a month or more but it always comes back and a few pounds extra.

    It does not matter if you have to lose 10lbs or 100lbs we live in an age where we want instant gratification and results...however, we didnt put the weight on overnight and it wont come off that way either...not with long lasting results. I have a sweet tooth, I love drinking wine and i love carbs...I know that realistically everything must be done in moderation.

    This is day one of my cleaning up my food intake to shed the extra 10 lbs i have gained. I wont cut out carbs but i will certainly up my protein and the carbs that I do eat wont be the sugars that dissolve into the blood super quick. Its funny that I have worked in the past in the fitness industry and I can tell people what to do but man its hard to practice what we preach, lol

    Keep smiling everyone and dont give up no matter how far you may have to go...
