Blind, Mute, or Deaf?

I was watching a news story about a blind beauty contestant.. and weighing all the pros and cons of each.

I'd say deaf. Because words can be so cruel, people can talk so ugly.

Mute. It would at least excuse me from talking on the phone, which I despise!

I truthfully wonder if ANYBODY likes talking on the phone.

Blind. I don't know what I would do if I couldn't sing or listen to music.

Mute. I'm not much of a talker anyway.

Mute. I could not take being robbed of one of my senses. I could still write things to communicate with the world

It's life, and many people lead fruitful and happy ones with such issues.

I'll bet the first blind Miss America contestant isn't depressed.

Mute, I have plenty of mute friends and they can communicate better than I can. Not only that, but their other senses are way better because of their "handicap".

I think I'd rather be mute than blind or deaf. I would still be able to hear and see the world, and at the same time, actually think before I "speak" - aka write it out.
  • I would say mute.. I gotta hear things around me and see where Im going. But being a mute I could do that.

Mute - I'm sure they have some app where I can type in what I want to say and it says it for me.

I am legally deaf so I guess I will take that...

better the devil you know than the devil you don't...

but there's more to it than just losing a sense. I worry at night that someone will break in and murder me and my daughter in my sleep before I even wake up...

I'll probably never hear a man say I love you to me.

It holds me back in my career, i don't care how many people say it doesn't or shouldn't...

so really...count your blessings and wish for none of these.

Mute. I could still write, hear, and see all of the beautiful things I see everyday that give my life meaning.

Thank you for sharing this perspective.... It's easy to talk about, but another thing to live it...

I would have to say if I had to choose; I would go mute. There are so many different ways of communicating, but losing my eyes would devastate me. I have always had a fear of losing my eyes and my left hand - I draw, paint, craft, write in order to express myself. If I couldn't do that I might as well be in a crazy ward.

Mute for sure, because learning would be more complicated when deaf or blind. I love reading and hearing brilliant people speak.
