Hello all I am Jade! I am very excited in doing this and coming onto this website I have heard many great things from it!
Any ways I just signed up woot woot!
So,the reason I heard about this website is from my doctor. Over the last past couple of years I have obtained an illness called PCOS,usually dealt with not having a period but can cause many other issues like (diabetes and other issues like weight gain.)Aslo my family has a pretty bad history with heart problems. Called WPW you can look it up online if you like. So anyways,I came on here today knowing that I absolutely have to lose weight or I will die. I am 18 years old and almost 300 pounds. I currently weight 289 which is a scary number. It does scare me that is why I am trying to lose weight and stuff. but anyways. I broke my feet a year back and I was in a wheelchair for about 3 months I know its not a long time but having to sit down and not getting any physical activity for three months it messes you up. I hated it ,all I did was eat all the time and watch tv or do something that wasn't to productive. so it was really bad,I was always bored I had went from being in ROTC running everyday and being in good shape to not being able to walk at all for 3 months.Well I guess if not being able to do the things I wanted to made me really sad and whenever I just got sad or something was to much for me I just ate. I ate a lot at one time and maybe an hour or so later I would eat again out of boredom so it wasn't a great 3 months for me.well soon after my feet were healed I had to wait another month before I could even decide to run again.the pain I had experienced was so horrible I had built myself up to it and the first time my dad and I had walked around our neighborhood I had to sit down and I was in tears it hurt that bad.So I knew then that I would not really be able to walk like we did anymore after the fact of that.So now I am trying to take water exercises at the YMCA and to try to lose weight seeing how I can't be on my feet very much. I think that is about it really. if you would like to know me more just say hi!

It's sounds like its been a very tough year for you. Your doc definitely sent you to the right place. There is so much support and inspiration on this site ! I would be happy to support you on your journey ! I and so many others can related with your struggles! You can do this ! When you start to have doubts check out people like Scott Rigsby ! If he can do it we can!0 -
Hi Robbin!
Thank you very kindly!
YAY! I have my first friend! Thank you!
I tell you it really is hard.because just being able to sit around all day and do nothing is purtty easy and sometimes I would rather do that but instead I know I have to get healthy and I am so ready for it to!
Thanks again Robbin0 -
Hello! Welcome to MFP!
MFP is a really great resource to keep you focused and connect you with a wealth of fitness resources and like minded folks.
1. Log your foods every day - don't skip days, or parts of your day. log everything!
2. Analyze each day - see where it went good and where it went bad - too much fat? maybe too many carbs? over the calorie limit? Identify and plan how to correct it for tomorrow.
3. Reach out to the community with questions or advice needs.
4. Build a network of friends here!
5. Lastly, do not believe everything you read here. There is a lot of great advice, but also some misleading and hype type advice. Part of getting fit is educating yourself in aspects of health and fitness. Make sure any questionable advice is looked at with a scientific eye and look for facts, evidence, and most importantly real world proof.
6. You are more than a number. Sometimes the scale may not say what you hoped - thats fine. weight loss is not a straight line declination. Its a bumpy line that drops over time. Don't let single day numbers get your focus away from term based results.
7. Vary your exercises. Your body forms memories and can slow down how it burns fat and builds muscles. Keep it confused! Hit it hard with cardio styles. Build lean muscle to burn even more fat.
8. and above all - take your photo now! You will want to look back and have a starting BEFORE picture to proudly display along with your series of PRESENT or CURRENT photos during your transformation and continued lifestyle of fitness.
I welcome you, and anyone else out there to add me as a friend. I have made fitness and health my passion and love the idea of folks joining me in my new lifestyle of being fit, healthy, and most importantly - HAPPY!.
I'm here to support and motivate!!! I find my own success comes easier when I help and fuel other folks success.
and remember - most folks care more about the quality of fuel they put in their lawn mowers than the fuel they put in their bodies. Don't be one of those people. Whole foods. Natural foods. Intelligent choices.
Fit for life,

Welcome Jade
As a former overweight teen I totally relate to your story. You can do this...you can get yourself stronger and able to do the things 18yr olds can do...I promise! Slow and steady wins the race and lifestyle changes so that you can do the things I can do at almost 40 lol. And if you told my 9th grade, 192lb self I'd be doing plyo-burpees at age 39 and inspiring others to get in shape I woulda told you that you were nuts! If I can do it honey, ANYBODY can!! I'm sending a request now

Thank you for believing in me Robyn. It helps to know that others have been in the same situation as I have been so thank you very much.
Ps. I don't even know what a plyo-burpee is0
