Have you ever noticed some of the "less than intelligent" topics that show up on the message boards? Makes you wonder if they were just bored to tears (as I am now) or are they really that ..... ummmm, unlearned. It is kinda like, "if it goes without saying then why do you say it". Some of the post on here is in the same realm of the wife asking "Is my butt big?" There is the answer that you WANT to give and then the answer you DO give.
One of my favorites is the "Ladies Only" post. Come on, do you really think that if you add the disclaimer "Ladies Only" no men will read the thread? "Ladies Only" threads are the first threads that some guys read, just because it says "Ladies Only". Just come right out and say it........."My crotch is bleeding and I have a stupid question about it!" Trust me, we ain't gonna touch that. I won't even stick my pointer near that topic. (pun intended)
How many post do we need about eating exercise calories? The answer is "YES", otherwise don't exercise. Shucks, the main reason I exercise is so that I can eat (or drink) more calories.
Here is a good one .... MIO contains an ingredient called "Propolyne Glycol" NOT to be confused with Ethylene Glycol which is an ingredient in anti-freeze. So the short answer is NO if you use MIO you are NOT drinking anti-freeze.
Another one of my favorites, although it does not relate to the message boards, is people commenting on peoples diaries and not even seeing what it was or how many cals that were comsumed that day. One day just for kicks and giggles, I did not log any of my cals for the day and then when I closed my diary, I commented on the post that shows up on my wall, "I did not post any of my food today". I was bombarded with "Good going", WTG", "Awesome", "Well done", "Doing a great job" and so on. I had to laugh. I sincerely appreciate the support of my friends but ya know, be careful of what you are supporting.
And then there are morons that post crap like "I am hungry and do not know what to do" and ramble on with stupid stuff that has no relevance what so ever. You have to be real bored and have too much time on your hands to be posting junk like that.

Exactly why I do NOT post on diary updates. I do not have time to go through and look at all of my friends' diaries... nor do I have the desire, really... and I don't want to post support or encouragement for the wrong thing. My diary is not public, and there have been days when I didn't quite make it to 1200 for some reason or another or maybe I didn't have a chance to log everything, and people still post "WTG, awesome, super..." I LOVE my friends here on MFP, and I believe in being encouraging, but I'm with you OP, sometimes I just chuckle to myself about the "support" I'm getting.
And... I might have been one of those morons in the past...0 -
That is why I try not to comment on diary I can not see.
My fav is the ladies only. LOL0 -
Yeah I was probably one to post a good job or WTG on your empty food journal .... I have been starting to look at them more but I do admit that I certainly have posted without actually looking....my bad :blushing:0

Lol because Antifreeze would taste better. I do not like Mio. Great post Mike0 -
Yes I made the mistake of posting a rant for discussion purposes. Last time.
I wonder if I can run better if I drink antifreeze in the winter?0 -
the best ones are the ppl who ask for permission to do things they know better....Can i eat a whole pizza and still lose weight0
-
 OP!
I assure you, though, if I ever post an "I'm hungry and I don't know what to do!" thread, it will only be as a last ditch, desperate attempt to keep my fat fingers on the keyboard and out of the fridge!0 -
It's funny because it's true! :laugh:0

Thanks for playing along and enjoying my sarcastic post.
Just to be clear, I was not specifically talking about or referring to anyone in this post. It was all for fun0 -

I am hungry and don't know what to do(high pitched whining tone).... Oh, wait! Maybe I should eat something healthful! Yeah, yeah, that's the ticket! This post made me laugh and really surprised me that, as of yet, you haven't been attacked by someone who failed to read it through to the end!! LOL! Thanks for the laugh:laugh: :drinker:0

The exercise adding more calories for me to eat freaks me out. I can't do it. I purposely don't put exercise on there because I don't want to eat more. I don't get it. The "ladies only" posts annoy me because it's the same question posted about 10 times a day. Do people not look at other questions before they post? I find it so strange. Ditto for the repeated "should I eat my exercise calories back" posts. This isn't rocket science, people.
My favorites are the "I feel sick what should I do" questions, where a peek at their diary shows they are eating hardly any food or protein. I mean, first of all, running to the Internet all you can think of to do, and second, you can't connect the sick feeling with your terrible diet on your own?
Then there's the "should I log x, y, or z" questions, which completely perplex me. If you are here to track what you eat, why would you ever not log everything?0 -
My favorites are the posts from women who act like they've never had a period before. I'm always amazed at women who come on here and act like they don't know their period causes water retention. Um you've had a period since you were a teen, please stop the feigned ignorance.
LOL 'I stepped on the scale today and I gained 5 pounds! I'm on my period, could that be the reason?' STOP playing you KNOW it's the reason!! You've had a period since you were 12/13 this water gain business every month is not new to you! ha ha0 -
As much as the questions bother me, some of the answers people post on here irk me even more. Some people just post and clearly have no idea what they're talking about! It just drives me nuts... I would never post any sort of advice on here if the only way I could back it up was a random personal anecdote. I only answer questions that I know I can answer and back up with scientific studies or information I've read in my nutrition textbooks.0

That's very admirable. I just wish I could remember all the stuff I've read about stuff!0 -

Well, I try, thanks if there's something I'm not sure about I reference my books first, then post... I definitely can't remember everything off the top of my head either!0 -
So, if I log-in that I ate 10 McDonald's cheese burgers in one day someone may say, "Good job"? I don't post when people finish their food diaries unless I look at it.0

I am hungry and do not know what to do!
I suggest using a menstrual cup. It's worth a try, right?0 -
