what a vague statement. i say false just based on the misleading vagueness.

it's stuff like that that makes me remember why i dont read 99.99% of the magazines targeted towards women.

it's true to a certain extent. i say this as someone who's going to start their yoga teacher training in 2 weeks :)

belly fat is linked to cortisol and stress hormones. if your fat gain / weight gain tends to appear around the low belly area, yoga will help calm your nerves, lower your cortisol and help in that process. also if you are doing a lot of power / vinyasa style yoga you will burn about as many calories as a light jog while incorporating your core. if you take the principles of yoga to heart you're more likely to make mindful choices instead of pigging out on a bag of chips in front of the TV because you're cultivating a relationship between your actions and your thoughts.

it's not a magic bullet -- i'm still working on my food allergies and yoga to try and trim my belly fat (as well as a VERY clean diet). If you are overeating and eating the wrong foods, yoga won't take the pounds off alone -- but it can play a great role in the process.

As stated, that statement is false. There is no magic bullet to keeping you from gaining weight in the mid section. Heck, I've had yoga instructors with weight issues, including belly fat.
