I have a serious question. Do bikes in general have weight limits? In all honestly I am scared to get on a bike again because I am scared it will break under me or something because I am over the limit or something. Is that possible?

I just looked on Trek's website and they warranty their road and triathlon bikes to 275 lb rider weight; mountain bikes, urban and commuter bikes to 300 lbs.

about 3/4 the way down this page:

I would check out various bike manufacturer's websites to see what they say.

I believe they do have a weight limits. I would look up the bike you have to make sure. Walking is also a great way to get rid of weight. My mom lost 75lbs in a year just by walking 2 or more miles a day.

The biggest thing to look at is the wheels. With the exception of ultra-light race frames, a quality bike will support 300lbs. My suggestion is to find a good bike store and have them help you pick the right bike. Do not just pick one up at a Wal-get box store.

I was 280 when I started riding again and had no problems on my 12yr old aluminum MTB bike. I still ride that bike off road pretty hard and am still on the original wheels.

yes, a LBS will help you pick one out. They will recommend an aluminum frame as those will hold more weight. Also, if you are just into cycling or want it for recreation, I would go for a comfort bike or a hybrid.
