Should I log walking calories

Hi.
I train 5 ish days a week, I do 30 - 40 mins strength work in the morning with an additional 30 - 20 minutes of cardio.
At lunch time I either go for a run or a walk.
The walks are usually between 4 and 8 miles, but, the guy I train with in the mornings thinks I shouldn't log those calories.
Morning session 400 -600 cals
Lunch Session 200 - 600 cals
What do you think??

Sounds like burning cals to me.
but if you put Active you may have already factored that in.0 -
If you're doing something to burn calories I don't see why it shouldn't be factored in. Sometimes I'll go for a run and then take three times as long walking back, and I factor in all those calories.0

I have a desk job so not much action at work, so no extra cal burn during the day0

Sounds like you set it at sedentary then, so log everything
It's easier than trying to work out how much is included in Active anyway.

You're moving so definitely factor those calories in. I've got a desk job too and walk on all three of my breaks.0

depends if when u did ur profile if u wrote u are sedentary or light active . If sedentary i think u should log0

I walk all the time, literally. So I log it. I would log it no matter what, log whatever you do, whatever you eat, whatever you drink. I use MFP to keep me honest about what Im doing to my body.0

My general walking like around the shops I dont log, or when I am at work (Nursing job stood walking 8 hours) I dont log either. However when I go on my 2 hour or purpose speed walking I do log it.0

My settings are at sedentary (desk job), so I give myself credit for everything, even housework. Still losing weight (and I usually eat most of my exercise calories back).0

It depends on how you set up your account in the first place. If you did the walking before you started mfp and factored it into your base activity level then no. This is because mfp already accounts for the walking. It's base assumption is that you do this daily in any case. However if you did not factor it into your activity level then yes log it because it's an extra burn.0

My "system" has been to log 50-75% of the time I spend on an activity, depending on how hard I think I have worked. For strength training, I use 50% of the time of circuit training in the database. For walking, I use 75% of the time/calorie value. It seems to work out for weight maintenance, at least it has been for a few months. I stay under the calorie value + exercise calories on all but a few days a month. MFP is set to "moderately active".0

I am wondering if that is why he says dont log the walks, cos if I dont and stick to my required calorie intake then it mean i will be consuming less cals. This of course would help with fat loss as the average calorie intake over a week would be reduced by 1500 ish calories.0
