I used to do this. I also wonder what others think about it now.

YAY, it works well for me especially with the higher fat, moderate protein and lower carb lifestyle.

I find that when I go lower fat and higher carb it is harder to do IF because I get hungry faster.

Fat and protein are satisfying to the brain and stomach, so there are no insulin spikes and blood sugar stays steady all day and that keeps hunger away.

I IF several times a week. I was practicing everyday, but was finding I was eating very little and that isn't good either.

You have to be able to have an appetite to eat enough during your 8 or 9 hour eating window.

Oh and check out the lean gains website. Very insightful and informative.

Lean gains and Eat Stop Eat are 2 other forms of intermittent fasting.

If you are in good metabolic state to begin with then I'd say the occasional IF could have many benefits and will not 'crash your metabolism'.

Yeh, pretty much my take on it. I try not to do it too often as I need me nutrients :)

This is exactly why it works for me. Hearty appetite to eat + self control to fast.

Yep sounds about right to me! But I'm wondering how I can stick to a high protein, low carb diet and still take in the amount of calories that I need for the day...any advice? What did you diet consist of?

To start IF, you do not have to restrict yourself to an 8 hour feeding window. I recommend 10 or even 12 hours for people I know who are usually on the lower end of the daily caloric spectrum and gradually reduce the window once their appetite can handle more calories in a shorter time span.
