I was skeptical

My dietician suggested I join this forum. I didn't want to because I thought I would never look at it. I started logging in my food with the app on my phone and now I love the barcode scanner. My daughter wants to scan all of my food now ;) I have even spent a few evenings logging my meals for the next day to see what numbers I would get. I feel more motivation build when I see before and after pictures and success stories. I see people my size getting thinner and I just can't picture myself thin, but it gives me hope. I have people who don't know me encouraging me. I have to say I'm glad I'm here.

The down side is I don't like logging what I shouldn't of ate, lol. I went to bed thinking I would skip lighting Saturdays meal and ended up doing it at 2am. It wasn't pretty, an off day and a surprise dinner date with my husband. But it's ok, today is a new day.

  • Hi, I tried this site after seeing it on the news and I really like it, in 2005 I was in a car accident and gained weight from all the meds I had to be on before they did surgery, but after they took me off of them I didn't loose the weight, so I joined weight watchers and lost 25 pounds of the of 35 I had gained. I quit WW due to the fact that I didn't want to keep paying, so I gained back 10 pounds. I knew that WW worked for me because it held me accountable for what I ate and how much I exercised. I joined this site and it works just as well as WW did for me, and it's free! Good luck to you and keep logging and if you need a buddy friend me and we'll encourage each other. Have a wonderful day.

Thank you. Good luck to you. I went to Jenny Craig at one time so I know what you mean. I was limited because I didn't like a lot of their food. I also got 3 extra 35 calorie options and was always told I picked the wrong things. If I added olives to my salad I was throwing of my fat count and things like that.

I was skeptical at first too! I started by strictly using the app to log my food. After losing a few pounds and having some questions about the whole process, I checked out the forums and never left! Here I am now, 1.5 years later, 30 pounds lighter, and well into maintenance mode. I am all for whatever program works for an individual, whether it be MFP, Jenny Craig or whatever. I would encourage people to try MFP first because it is free and you learn how to eat real food in reasonable portions without relying on expensive packaged food.
