What the heck is wrong with me?

I have been yo-yo-ing between the same 5 pounds since JULY! This is DECEMBER and I have not lost any signifigant weight since JULY, that is so horrible! A few weeks ago I finally got down out of the 170's, I thought that would give me the boost I needed, but today I am right back up to 173. I'm so frustrated.
I know what I am doing wrong though, I sometimes drink all my water but most days I don't, if I am cold/sleepy/lazy I skip the gym, and some days for no apparent reason I just won't stay within my calories. So I know what the problem is, I just can't seem to get myself on track. Will someone please give me a whoopin' and tell me to get my lazy butt back on track?

Only you can do that for yourself. Sorry to say that. I can yell at you, motivate you, "whoop" you, but it will do no good unless you want to do it. Figure out your triggers and learn a new way to cope with them besides eating or skipping a gym session. If you skip the gym, do something at home. Jumping jacks, pushups, crunches... whatever it is you like to do, do it. Just do something.
Good luck...0 -

I have made myself workout on certain days of the week no matter what!!!!! I work out Monday, Tues, Wed and Thursday and I never, never miss. I even worked out on Thanksgiving. When I worked out every other day, I always made excuses. Give it a whirl... it works!0

Maybe you're not getting enough iron? Try taking a vitamin suppliment with Iron and that might be what helps you get your energy back.
With out looking at your food log, I'm wondering if you need a cheat day to shock your metabolism back into action. Or You could be board with your work out routine and that's what's keeping you down. Maybe try swimming laps at a local indoor pool, or kickboxing, Spin Class, or running through the park with a friend. You're just 23 lbs away from your goal weight, You're well over half way there. YOU CAN DO IT Amy!! Good Luck!!!0 -
I definitely agree with the first comment, he's right, YOU can only truly push yourself. However, it does help having a partner go along with you to the gym, as long as they are suggesting the gym and not let's go out to eat instead. But I was doing the same thing you are now, and finally something just said hey make a schedule of the best days that work for the gym and stick with it. If you believe its an important meeting or class you have to attend in order to get you there everytime, then believe it. It's easy to believe and understand that eating and doing exercise is mind of matter, but making it a practice is harder. So you have to push yourself to get in a routine, and try to avoid the cravings. (But don't get discouraged if you went over one day, just go extra strict the next day or two.) Now, before that built guy who commented you first whoops your butt, and believe me he's built for it (good for you on the 82lbs...awesome*) start doing it because we are right there with you! I know you can and we'll be fighting that road together...best of luck!!0

Welcome to Banks / Shboss's dreaded "Phase 4" - I've been there for months,
Read: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/9433-expectations
""Phase 4. Really digging in.
This is where the second wall can happen. You're probably at between 3 and 4 months by now, and if you have gone this far, you feel like you have already suceeded. This is where many people stumble. they are tired of the routine, tired of eating different things from all their friends, limiting their alcohol intake. Basically the shine has worn off. this is when your really need to plant your feet. Maybe change up your exercise routine, make a concentrated effort to find different, but still nutritional food. Talk to people. And examine how far you have come. At this point, no matter how much external motivation you receive, it's all about believing in yourself! ""
What I did was adjust my routine and my goals. Began feeding a little more, and working on fitness instead of pure weight loss. Now I'm losing inches and pushing toward 12% bodyfat and getting much stronger, but I have lost any weight in 4 months. Figure out what you want to do and do it! ((And "pausing" were you are and maintaining weight for a while is Ok too if that's what you need to do right now. As long as you don't backslide and gain back a bunch of bodyfat, well why not?)).
You'll get it - you came this far didn'tcha?0 -
I'm in the same situation, but I don't quite I just keep on going. Some days are better than other.Don't stop tring.0

Thanks everyone, the encouragement really helps! I've drank half of my water for the day already, had a salad for lunch and then I WILL go to the gym.
I can't wait till Christmas though, I'm getting My Fitness Coach for Wii, so for days I just can't make it to the gym I'll have that.0
