big difference in scales

My wife and I have been weighing ourselves as we diet, We just bought a new scale and it shows us weighing 15-20 lbs more than the other. My wife is pregnant and has been visiting the dr, a lot, The doc scale is measuring around the same as our old scale, The brand new, more expensive does not fluctuate as bad, but I fear the accuracy. If it is right, I am a lot further away from my goal and I was also a lot larger than I ever thought I was. I put a 5lb bag of sugar on it and it measured 6.5 lbs.

Did you put your scale on a solid surface? Usually scales are more inaccurate when put on a carpeted floor.0

both on kitchen tile. The scale we bought has mixed reviews. Some people love it, others have accuracy problems.0

I would suggest re-calibrating your scale. If it's showing a 1.5 lb difference for every 5 lbs, something's not right.0

How do i calibrate a digital scale? It is a Taylor scale that i got with my capital one reward points.0
