    Dr. Seuss was a xenophobic racist. I'd prefer to not think that everything he said is absolute truth.

    I am with you. I don't think #5 is even possible.

    I believe the sentiment here is to try to treat each day as if it were the day you would be remembered for. It doesn't mean absolutely treat each day as if it were the day you would be remembered for.

    oh and #4 is .. yeah.. That logic can be put in place for a lot of bad people. Be reasonable. :)

    and #5 works for me so long as you drop the comma - changes the meaning a bit, yes?
