Cannot shake the water weight

I am trying everything. My weight fluctuates at my TOM, mostly water. I am a vegan mostly and vegetarian when I am weak. I can get on a scale at the beginning of the month and it will say I STILL have water weight. It doesn't come off until a day or two before my next PMS and then, on it comes again. I don't or try not to eat a lot of salt but am a sucker for cheese substitutes (the one I choose doesn't really have a lot of salt or MSG). When I went vegan I lost 23 lbs without working out, just like that. Now, I'm hitting the gym and the water weight is killing me. No, I'm not giving up which is why I am posting this. I am 34. I want to be back in a bikini before I am 40. When I started my journey 6 years ago I lost 110-140 lbs which I gained back after I moved to "restaurant row" and quit smoking. I gained 80 lbs back. Not I can't seem to shed any more and I am frustrated. Any ideas?

If you have this "water weight" most of the time, I'd say it's just weight.0

The thing is I can gain 4 lbs in a day and lose it the next. I am not sure why0

less carbs, more veggies and protein.0

Food in your stomach has weight to it. Do you weigh at night and then in the morning?0 -
Well first you said it doesn't go away all month, now you say it goes away the next day. If it goes away the next day then why would you say you can't shake it? I can't help you if you can't say what you mean.0

Yesterday I weighed one thing. Today I've gained four pounds. I don't know how you can 4 lbs overnight. Then lose it the next day.0 -
How much water are you actually drinking in a day also you need to weigh once a week and at the same time0

No that doesn't sound like you can gain 4 pounds overnight and sadly it looks like you have somebody on your board that isn't very helpful. I have no idea what to tell you except that if this keeps happening you should talk to your doctor. It could be your diet. I eat meat so the way you eat might have something to do with it I am not sure. I would really talk to you doctor or even try posting something with the topic of vegan/vegetarian see if other people on this site have similar issues. Best of luck!0

My weight fluctuates. I can't get back to the orignal weight. Is what I mean. I started out weighing one thing. I can't get back to that weight. I can weigh one thing one day and the next another and the next another but never the original weight. When I do get back there, I gain more weight. Then I weigh one thing and then another. This is what I mean.0 -

Yep. I belong to one of those groups. I'll post there. Thanks.0 -
I have the same issue. This is going to sound bad and people are going to tell you that it is a bad idea. However, my doctor put me on half of a water pill for my high blood pressure. I take one half of a low dose water pill. I pee a lot more than I ever have in my life, but I no longer wake up 5 pounds heavier than the night before. I felt like the water weight was masking my true weight and this has made a world of difference for me.0

I drink like a fish. Maybe that is the problem. I weigh different times of the day, different days. Thanks.0 -

I was on a water pill when I weighed 140 lbs more for my high blood pressure. When I lost the weight, my blood pressure went down, they took me off. I am calling my doc right now. Thanks.0 -

Wow.
waisted78 - Try drinking more water than you're currently drinking. Sounds counter-intuitive, but it'll help balance out the water in your body. Also, take a look at your carbs and sodium and lower them if you can.
EDIT: Oops - saw you just posted that you drink like a fish. You should weigh yourself at the same time every day before eating or drinking anything. And do it nude unless you wear the same thing every time.0 -
Your weight will naturally fluctuate from day to day, even 4 pounds fits into a normal fluctuation. If that throws you off, I'd recommend weighing yourself only once a week or even once a month.
The trend is what you need to look at. Are you trending down, trending up or basically staying the same.
If you're basically staying the same week after week it's not water weight, it's just your body's weight; you're not losing, you're maintaining. That's when I'd start investigating your calorie counts, if you're weighing and measuring your food (or underestimating what you log) and how you're calculating exercise calorie burn.0 -

Weighing at different times of day will give you vastly different amounts as well and pay attenetion to what you're wearing. Clothes can weigh a lot.
Your best bet is to weigh first thing in the morning after using the bathroom,0 -
