Newbie - one week on plan

My name is Jacqueline (username: jacqueling) and I started using MFP last week. Finally a tracker that is easy to use and provides me with useful information. I've been going it alone for about a month and have 25 pounds to lose although this week after a month of no weight loss, I showed a loss of 3 pounds! When I started my weight loss program I managed to fall and break my wrist so I am just now out of a cast after the month and starting physical therapy next week.

I live in new york city and am fortunate to have a small gym in my apartment building. Because of my fractured wrist, I've only been able to use the stationary bicycle, but it's better than nothing. I'm 65 and of course post menopausal so my metabolism needs constant boosting. I can't wait until I can do more exercise because I hate being inactive.

I'd love to hear from others who are working with this app and having success. They say you lose more if you diet with a friend or two. I have a nutritionist whom I meet with once a week and she's great, but the more the merrier!

  • Welcome, Jacqueline! Congrats on your weight loss so far, thats great! I'm new here too, and live in CT. This weather sure isn't helping staying active :)

    Hi Jacqueline,

I too just started with MFP a week ago with an almost 3lb loss too! I have certainly had my share of injuries so I "feel your pain", so to speak, when it comes to coming back from them. Feel free to add me! Love positive people that are making a difference in their lives.
  • Well done on finding a way of carrying on with a broken wrist - it's that kind of determination that will lead you to success.

I started to exercise more and eat healthier 10 days ago and so far no weight loss but I feel more energetic and my stomach feels tighter and less flabby which is keeping me motivated. I only joined MFP today on the recommendation of a work colleague so fingers crossed this is the help I need to reach my 30 lbs target weight loss!

I totally agree that support and motivation is the key to long term success - so feel free to add me if you'd like some support along the way!
