Where in the world would you go as a reward?

I'm considering doing an international trip as a reward if I reach my goal weight. I would love to go back to Korea, but I think next year is too soon - I'd like the baby to be older the next time we go so he'll remember some of it. I would likely want to take our children with us.
So, where would you go? And why?

I'm not sure if my upcoming three-week trip to Peru (a fantastic birthday present) is exactly a weight loss reward, but it sure is providing motivation to get in shape.
I turn forty in August and my husband and I are going to spend four nights of it camping in the Andes hiking the Inca Trail to Macchu Pichu.0 -
my goal/reward is to hike the apalacian trail for my 40th bday...
I do section hikes now... but you aren't a true hiker unless you are a through hiker0 -

As for me, I would love to go to Malaga, Spain & Mexico to visit my roots as I was born in another country. Unfortunately I'm broke right now & only see my money fly away :grumble:0 -

Have you read Bill Bryson's " A Walk in the Woods"? really got me interested in the Appalachian Trail.
And there must be something about turning forty because all around me people are doing amazing things to celebrate that number. (including me, with our Inca Trail trip coming up) . It makes me think this next decade is going to be awesome. Certainly I'm in my own best personal shape in a long time.
have a great hike!0 -
a few places
Japan - i spent my summer there (personal vacation)
Taiwan - spent a month there family vacation
Hong Kong - spent only 3 weeks .. work lol0 -
Its a toss up between Ireland and Greece, & Italy0

I'd like to do China and Japan, have even gone as far as finding a trip that does both but no chance of it happening any time soon since I'm buying a house this year and will be heavily into debt as a result.0

Japan, because I've always wanted to go. Why wait till I reach my goal? I know that being dark-skinned will earn me enough stares already; I'd rather not be gawked at because of my size as well. >.<'0

Mongolia. I know 3 people who've been there and they say it is amazing and the people are fantastic. It's not a luxury destination, but it will be an experience.
I liked Hawaii, wouldn't mind going back to the Big Island.0 -
I was supposed to go on the Transsiberian... in fact, right now I should be in St Petersburg and looking forward to all the stops on the way to Vladivostok. Bloody gutted that I managed to make myself sick because I gained back so much weight.
Next July, when I'm better (fingers crossed) it's the UK and Paris, so I'm hoping to be really healthy since there will be loads of walking, especially in London and Paris. I'm also hoping to do a pared down Transsiberian trip in January of 2014 because I'd love to see Russia in Winter and maybe even start my trip in Harbin for the ice festival before beforehand.0 -
NEW ZEALAND  ..... (i have my reasons)0

Yes, I just want to go everywhere! Darn money lol0

About 5 years ago I made a promise to myself to not go overseas until I was at goal weight. A year ago I became single and decided to have a year in another country (Philippines). I'm 7.5kg away from goal, but until I get to goal I can't book the ticket.0

i'm pretty sure I want to go somewhere with roller coasters! it will be so fun....esp. because I won't be worried about not fitting in the seat or the seatbelt....or be afraid of falling out because i'm fat! so....roller coasters....and maybe a spa.....and outlets....and hopefully even on the trip I would want to go to a gym or take a fitness class of some sort.....because it will be my way of life!

Its not a long way from Frederick, but you can do Hershey for the Rollercoasters and Spas and the outlets are at Lancaster about 25 minutes away.
Since that is an easy trip you need to go bigger on the goal trip :bigsmile:0 -
california. or anywhere where the sun hangs out a lot.0

have a great hike!
I haven't read the book...
the AT actually goes through my town... and I have done many many small hikes (we live in Waynesboro, VA) and I also give hikers rides when I see them walking about in town
I will turn 35 on the 22nd... and I still have about 100# to go... so I am thinking that when I am 40 will be a good time0 -
I'm going to China to run the Great Wall of China marathon. It won't be instant gratification b/c I'll be at goal long before the race but I can wait for it.0
-
LOL, I'm going to do Ironman cozumel 2014, but should be at goal weight long before that, but picked an Ironman that will also be an awesome vacation

I second the Italy suggestion. It's an absolutely amazing country filled with beautiful art and a wonderful history. It would be a great reward for getting to your goal.0

1. Patagonia (haven't been yet)
2. Jordan (was there in 2007)
3. Hong Kong (last visit in 2006)
4. Montenegro (was there last year and loved it)
And my list goes on and on, I'm an admitted travel junkie.0 -
I would send the family any little place their wonderful hearts desired. Then I'd curl up on the couch with a beer in one hand, the remote in the other, and just nap myself silly. Nothing says "peace" better than a quiet house.0

My number 1 place I've always wanted to visit is Italy. I have family there. It's just so darn expensive!
I would also love to go England. My best guy friend lived there for awhile.0 -
Bora Bora, hands down. Or the UK...or Japan...or Australia. Hmm.... haha0
