contraceptive pill and weight loss?

I am on the contraceptive pill for acne, it's the only thing alongside with Roaccutane that has worked.
I was losing easily in the beginning, lost 15kgs last year but since january .. nada

I lift heavy weights 4 times a week (2 upper body days, 2 lower body days), I do intense dancing 3 times a week, run once or twice a week. I drink water like there is no tomorrow.
I have not lost ANY weight since january but lost so many cm's. I try to eat clean 80% of the time, and never go over my calories.

I still weigh 180lbs so I still have a lot left to lose.
I have had my thyroid, etc checked it's all within the normal range.

Only other thing I can think of is this tablet.. Anyone?

what pill is it you're on? I put on weight went i went on one pill, so i changed and i was fine after that.. i actually felt a bit slimmer! you're best bet is to chop and change until you find the one that best suits you, or to even just find out if it is that that's having an effect. most pills do wonders for achne anyway so i wouldn't worry about it effecting that. the pill i was on that i felt fine with (no weight gain) was mycrogynin 30 and cleared up my skin too. good luck

Hi there, I am on Ginet it's to keep your skin good and it's also known as a low andrenoid (sp?) one, so you won't gain any/much weight with it. I've out on about 5kgs which I am not happy with at all!!! I'd love to hear more about this topic from anyone. Thanks.

never heard of that. i would definitely try coming off it for a while and seeing what happens, if you cant bare to do that then swap to a different one.

I think we could all cope with a couple of pounds/kgs, but when it's 10 pds/5kgs it's getting a bit over the top - I'm just trying my best to stick to good eating habits. The risk of getting pregnant when we are not ready for a kid is WAY to great to not be on the pill at the moment. Goodluck girls.

I'm on the depo shot - you get it once every 3 months, and I've actually slimmed down quicker since being on it, although I'm not confident to credit that to the shot solely. Maybe research it for another option for ya!! :)

Depo usually creates ALOT of weight gain. The Dr even told me that and people I know on it have put on up to 20kgs (50pds)..., so you are one of the very lucky ones. YAY.

That IS good to know!!! I am phobic of needles but I've got enough padding back there to make it bearable haha, otherwise I wasn't even considering the shot!
