Poor Dog locked in HOt car

Shopping at the produce store today when I hear this poor creature yipping away. I go to walk around the lot to find an idiot's Ford Focus with a small black lab locked inside. RETARD!!! Dude... it's over 100 f*#%ing degrees out today. You're parked in the sun on black pavement. Even though your windows were halfway rolled down... You're an AS3Hol3!!!

I take a water bottle out of my car as another bystander calls to report the bast3rd. (I'm not one to use such language, but this really pi22ed me off.) I give the pup water through the half rolled down window of the POS he was locked in and pup licks it up as much as he/she can. I wish I could time travel. I would have grabbed that poor pup out of the car and never given him/her back.

Dude comes running out of the store towards me and tells me the dog is fine and to leave it alone. (Too bad *kitten* wipe, your plates have already been called in!) He jumps in his car and speeds away.

Okay people.... read this story and next time you have a puppy with you, don't leave him in a 100 plus car. Cause next time I see this, I'll be prepared and punch your face in. Fair warning.

:)

The picture on facebook (wish I could find it to share!) puts it quite well...Leave your dog or baby in a hot locked car, and I will smash the window in with a brick. Some people really are idiots. It's too hot to leave anything alive in your vehicle!

I hope someone video recorded the situation for evidence.

A police dog just died in AZ last week from being left in a vehicle. Inconceivable. =(

I'd like to see how that person would handle being locked in a vehicle in a fur coat on a 100 degree day. *kitten*.

I went to six flags last year with my dad and it was 90 degrees out. Some jerk off left their dog in the camper of their truck. I called the police and refused to leave until they got there so I knew the poor dog wouldnt be left. Makes me so freaking angry that ppl like that are allowed to live.

I would have no problem whatsoever breaking a window with a brick to give a dog air, and I may even take it. Willing to spend a night in lock-up for it too. I swear. I wish people would friggin not get dogs if they are too stupid to know that you do not leave them in hot cars, outside with no shelter, etc. etc. etc.

I'm an eye for an eye girl. Lock that man in a hot car for 8 hours. Dog may not have been left that long but dangit, a poor dog has fur.

Idiot. I swear, I'm all fired up now. Thanks OP!!! Just kidding.

What an *kitten*! You were right to be pissed. Glad you reported him and I hope he gets arrested. I hope the dog is ok. I would have loved karma to bite him in the *kitten* with 2 flat tires on his car so he couldn't escape when the cops were coming.

I called the Sheriffs dept in the Mountains, where I take my mom to pick library books. It was not too hot, about 70%, and the windows were cracked about 5 inches..The Sheriff's basically told me that it was a nice cool day..The dog was not in harms way..Next time, it's a brick and no calling anybody.the old saying "No good deed goes unpunished" is appropriate for this incident.

People who leave animals in car's should be tied to the bumper and drug down the street.

I have you beat. My mom and I were coming out of KMart. This kind of grungy guy comes up to the window of my moms car and says "Do you have a phone" I said yes, and he said there is a baby, and I was like hUH? and so I get out of the car and he said in the truck there is a baby, I look in the truck parked next to me and there is a baby sitting in the truck all by itself in her carseat and when I say baby I mean baby, she was probably 4 months old. I get my phone out and the father comes running up to the truck and my mom is like "ARE YOU CRAZY LEAVING YOUR KID IN THE CAR ALONE IN A KMART PARKING LOT" and the guy was like I'm sorry I'm sorry I left my wallet at the store. My mother said Oh your wallet is more important than your baby. I didn't even have a chance to take down his license plate to call the police.

Good for you!! This is an all to often occurrence in the summer. I keep the animal control number on my phone for this exact reason, and have called on multiple occasions. Ive also done the same thing with water, usually pouring it all over the seat as well so the dog has something cool to lay on. If you think it is ok to lock a living being in a heat chamber with no way out, just so you can shop, I have no problem ruining your car in order to offer some relief!!!

ps: Although I agree with everything you say, please think twice before using the word "retard" in reference to someone doing something stupid and hurtful. I am not developmentally delayed, but find it as offensive as using the word "gay" in the same context. Just something to think about, thanks :)

This happened once when I worked at Target; by the time the woman came out the store management and the cart attendants were verbally letting her have it. Good for you for calling in the plates. Some people...

Yesterday I saw this guy jogging on the sidewalk with his dog. In AZ it's in the 100's and the poor dog kept trying to go to the grass because his paws were hot. He kept yanking the dog to the sidewalk until I caught up with him and told him he was an idiot. I told him to take off his shoes and put his bare feet on the cement so he could feel how hot it was. Some people are just plain heartless and dumb : (

I literally just saw a story on the news five minutes ago about a woman who did this near where I live. A guy called the cops and was about the break the window when they arrived. They took the dog and tried to save it, but unfortunately it died of heat stroke. The woman is in jail for animal cruelty, as she should be. I can't believe people think it's okay to do this...

and thank you for taking care of this little creature

That is frigging crazy I hate people doing that and they should not own animals if they are going to do that or have children if they are going to leave them unattended. we had a woman here leave her baby in a hot car inside a parking garage at the casino and was gone for well over 5 hours someone had reported the baby in the car by the time police and medics got there it was to late the baby had died of heat exhaustion and the mother was still in the casino they paged her several times when she finally was found by using her rewards card the police arrested her and she was screaming wait wait im on a roll ... no thought to her child at all it made me so sick

Oh, this makes me so angry! I always used to take my dog (a German Shepherd) with me EVERYWHERE, but I had both sets of keys with me at all times. One set in the ignition with my boy's A/C blasting, and one set in my pocket so I could lock him in there. :)

I do not like idiots that leave their pets in hot vehicles!

I once yelled, lectured rather, a lady inside of a Starbucks for leaving her two little Chihuahuas inside of her car while she ate a scone and sipped her latte. It was -20º outside and snowing.... I call the cops when I see an animal or baby left in a hot or cold car. It's abuse, neglect, and laziness.

Yes... good call on my misuse of the word. Believe me... I'm sympathetic to this. I've worked with special needs kids, and have an autistic neighbor kid I help care for. I usually don't misuse the word... I guess I was just to MAD to think right. Thanks for pointing it out. Good call! :)

I really admire the way you two discussed this. This is how reasonable people on internet forums interact. Sanely.

Now, going to the insane, and going to derail the thread. I have 3 Black and Tan coonhounds from the rescue in Tennessee who would not hunt, and would have been shot were it not for the rescue. Went to get them, and besides the loud bay, they are wonderful dogs.

A friggin albino boxer, who no one wanted because she was albino white and could not tolerate the sun.

And finally, a black pit bull who was a Michael Vic,Sick (don't get me started) rescue. Suffice it to say again, I am an eye for an eye girl, and would happily pull the lever with TWO hands and TWO feet, for NO compensation.

What is wrong is that there are soooo many dogs out here that are wonderful to be adopted. Other than dreams of getting into the Westminister show, why cant we deal with the current pet population before breeding others for profit?

No offense to breeders, I understand this is your business, and I am not judging, but it breaks my heart to see so many negelected dogs.
