I have started lifing weights, but want to do it properly. i bought a book called Workout Manual by MagBook and like the instruction in it,it seems quite thurougg, going through each move, and giving 6 months of workouts includong sers and reps. but it seems to be a book geared toward men. Is it wise, as a woman to lift weights doing a workout geared towards men or should i find something else geared towards women? My goal is to gain muscle and lose fat.

The workouts can be the same, the weight just changes.

These sites have a ton of exercises for both men and women

i dont understand what the difference would be? we have the same muscles: leg muscles, arm muscles, core muscles, etc

not to be snarky, but it's not like things bicep curls, deadlifts, squats, pullups etc will be performed differently simply because you have a vagina

I only read stuff aimed towards men. Our muscles work the same so why would it be any different? I lift like the guys and do the same type of exercises. There are just too many books and articles giving out bad advice to women like we need a taylored routine just for us because we are women. =/ No, it works the same and your not going to look like the guys from doing it.

My dad is the same way. He's always afraid I'm going to hurt myself. I'll go to move something or carry something inside and he will flip out about how I should have waited on him. "Um, hello?? I lift stuff heavier than this every day in the gym! I think I'm fine."

My motto is eat like a man and train like a man. Lift things up and put them down. You will be fine. Focus on form and the strength will come in time.

It's fine. I'm doing strong lifts and its aimed at only men, lol. I figured I have the same muscles so it wouldn't be any different.
