I'm in the Tampa area I actually started running in order to get more muscle strength and cardiovascular fitness for riding! I've put on a few too many pounds and it REALLY affects my performance in the saddle.. not to mention my horse probably wouldn't mind a lighter load
Any other equestrians here losing weight too?

I haven't ridden in a long time but I miss it a lot! Lucky girl that you're able to all the time.
I just joined myself, so feel free to add me as a friend if you'd like. I was born in New Port Richey, FL!0 -
It's been a long time and I'm no longer near a stable. Jealoussss that you still get to ride. I miss the horsies and the manure. XD0

to throw the "bloke" perspective on this one, I ride a motorbike and I can assure you that the lost weight is DEFINITELY noticeable in both seat comfort, acceleration, handling and how bumps on the road impact your body.
So horse riding would be a similar thing, get that weight off so you can peruse your passions! Its a real shame to know that there are people out there who are restricted on a daily basis and prevented from doing what their mind wants, because they haven't done what their body wants!
Good Luck - drop the weight for you (and your horses) =-)0 -

Haha yes! Butt does get sore especially since my saddle is now too small for it! Thankfully, I tend not to sit too much in the saddle, but as a result my legs get damned tired of holding myself up. The extra weight also does tend to negatively affect my own balance, not to mention the horse's balance while jumping.0
