Best Excercise for Thighs?

I've been running.... My weight has stayed the same, but my inches have gone down ..... .... EXCEPT... My thighs!

My thighs have actually gone UP an inch!

I'm a bottom-heavy 155lbs... measurements: 34" bust, 28" waist, 40" hips, 25" thighs .... which have gone UP to 26"!!!

What the heck? I thought running would slim my legs!

Strength training: squats (use heavy weights), lunges with some 10lbs weights in each hand, leg presses, leg extensions. My trainer makes me do 50 lunges with the weights, around the track. If you want to lose the weights during lunges, you can try something she makes me do: lunge and kick, alternating legs. You'll be crying in the end. You're welcome :)

The lunge kicks have me crying too.

Running will give you strong, large muscles in the thigh and calf areas. Over time, your legs will be more defined. If you are very fit, then your legs will look great, especially from the knees down.

I have read where if you are bottom heavy, your strength training should be concentrated on your upper body. Do little resistance on lower body exercises and instead do lots of reps. Don't do lunges or squats if you are pear/spoon shaped, but rather do brisk walks and lots of reps with side-leg lifts and similar lower body exercises. Lots of reps with little to no resistance will help shape your legs without bulking them. Don't forget that if you are heavy, then running is a form of strength training, if you think about it, since you are carrying all that extra weight.

Don't focus on a body part. Focus on exercises that will engage the big, compound musle groups. Your legs are 'growing' because you've challenged them by running. This is good. When you do other exercising that engages big muscles groups, your body will catch up by a) lose weight from all over and b) growing muscle in those areas.

So, don't fixate on your legs, fixate on your fitness (as you're doing) and overall exercise. Your body will catch up with your desires eventually.
