Hi everyone, I am thinking about getting a tub of whey, but there are so many out there. I need help on what to look for in a good protein supplement, if anyone on this site knows about it or uses it, please let me know what you think is the best one out there at the moment.

Good price and gets the job done!

Also, please add me, I need make my support group bigger, but only people who are serious about weight loss and supporting others. I say this because a girl added me that used this site like it was Facebook, spamming my feed talking about how cute some guy was.

Any ways, thanks in advance for the help!

I personally know nothing about supplements, but my 16 year old son who plays football, wrestles, and throws shotput has researched and uses GNC's Pro Performance AMP(advanced muscle performance) Amplified Wheybolic Extreme 60. His main goal is to build muscle and he uses it immediatly after a workout. It has 60g protein/3 scoop serving, 280 calories, 1g fat, and 7g carbs. He's a big boy at 6 feet and 250 pounds, carrying about 25 extra pounds of fat, but mostly muscle. I occasionally put 1 scoop in a proteing shake when I need more protein and don't want thefat/calories. Good luck finding the one right for you.

Best I've tried is Optimum Nutrition GOld standard Whey
2lb should be 25-30 bucks. It's isolate, and not filled with garbage.
    also, tasty.

I use body fortress its at walmart for 15.00 a 2pound container

140cals per scoop , not bad on carbs and comes in a bunch of flavors

I really loving the chocolate peanutbutter right now (cookies n creme is also really good)

how often are you suppose to take the supplements? is everything explained in detail on the bottle? or should I do a lot more research on it?

    All you need right there.

Great BCAA and Amino profile. Plenty of servings. Tastes good. Cheaper than dirt.

I take this as well and love it. I consulted a friend of mine who is a personal trainer and this is what he told me "I recommend wheybolic extreme 60 as a good muscle and strength building protein and its also good for helping cut weight because it increases metabolism."

I can tell you from personal experiences that it does exactly all of those things. I have been on it for about 2 weeks now and my metabolism has definitely improved because I am ALWAYS hungry and I eat 6 times a day. Also, my weights are already improving and I feel myself getting stronger. I just take one scoop right after I workout (so I'm not over do-ing it with the protein) although the serving size is 3 scoops.

Almost any 100% whey protein supplement will be good for you. Most run around 30g protein, ~2 g fat, and ~170g carbs per scoop. Right now I'm using Costco's 100% whey brand protein powder. I think it was like 60 bucks for like 150 scoops or something but I don't really remember. Also it doesn't matter when you take the protein just make sure you make your goal for the day. So whether it's right after a workout or 2 hours after a workout doesn't matter

Start off cheap and simple. A good powder should be able to fit 20 to 30 grams of protein in about 100 calories. Everything else is secondary if you're just beginning. Walmart carries two brands you can try first, Body Fortress and Six Star. Buy the smallest sizes you can so that you can test the taste without wasting money.

thank you, I agree with trying the smaller ones first to see what I like in taste, I also wanted to ask, is it okay for me to take whey, I would say a maximum of 3 times a day and still eat 3 meals a day while trying to lose weight?

I've read a lot that whey will help you lose weight but no one ever mentions if you are suppose to take it in place of a meal!

I use mine 2twice a day ( as snacks I still eat my meals) on my higher cal days also wanted to mention that magic bullet is a wonderful investment if you can swing getting one. I make my shakes some ice , one scoop powder , almond milk ( if I have room for the extra cals I will add in some peanut butter ) and blend all up in the magic bullet

Optimum nutrition is definitely one the best - great quality and tastes amazing. Also, AST VP2 is good, but much more expensive.
