I have just bought an FT4. Has anyone ever used theirs in the pool. It says it is ok, and the transmitter and watch are water resistant for up to 30 metres - but has anyone actually done it?0

I just ordered a Polar FT7 based on the the recommendations I've seen on the forums. I placed the order a couple days ago w/ EastBay - and they have a promo code on the home page that you can use for free shipping.0

I am looking for a new Hear Rate Monitor with chest strap but there are sooooo many to choose from. What are some recommendations for one that is easy to use, accurate, and not very expensive??
I have a Polar FT60 that I got off eBay for not a lot of money. I also have the FT7, which is also good - I highly recommend either.0 -
I just got a polar ft4 two days ago and it's kind of my new best friend.0

Suunto M4 - reviewed with the Polar and came out equal. Fabulous light strap, big clear dial and prettier than the Polar!0

Yesterday, I decided to put some of the results of my HRM in the blog section of myfitnesspal. You have now given me the idea to mention in the blog what HRM I am using in case anyone else wants to see how I have successfully incorporated it into my workouts.
I think I will add all the results next time, to help other heart rate monitor shoppers assess and visualize how having this one would impact a workout!
Can you give the link to your blog? I'd love to read about it, b/c I'm considering this one, too.0 -
I have a Polar FT7 and love it!
^^ Definitely this. I use it in the pool 4-6 days a week, plus on running/biking/hiking. I even wore it through 3.5 hrs of Spartan Beast and it works perfect!
I got mine from http://www.heartratemonitorsusa.com/90039173.html which was cheaper then Amazon or eBay or anywhere else for that matter.0 -
I bought a Polar T4 on Ebay for $50 and it just arrived this afternoon. Had it programmed in minutes and am already playing around with it. I obviously haven't had it long enough to give you a real in-depth recommendation, but so far I am smitten. Super easy to use.0

Can you guys clarify what 'zone' I am supposed to be in to burn my maximum calories, if I'm using a monitor for walking? I just ordered one last week, should be getting it any day now. I'm a little confused about the different zones and what zone I am supposed to be in at what times!?
First figure out what your max heart rate is and then work within a percentage of your max.
The easiest and best known method to calculate your maximum heart rate (MHR) is to use the formula
•MHR = 220 - Age
http://www.brianmac.co.uk/maxhr.htm (Has a lot of different calculators for MHR.
Here is a quick calculator to figure out your different zones.

And a very indepth look at what exactly heart rate zones mean.
