Has your body thermostat changed?

So wht Im asking is, has your body thermostate changed in such a way that you have issues with the weather or tempature in your home? I live in the high desert, so it gets pretty hot. I am having issues with lack of energy, nausea, dizziness etc. I recently visited a hot and humid state, I didnt have these issues, but I spent most my time in a pool. Even my family and friend have noticed the differance. I have meds for the dizzy and nausea. I dont know what to do about my lack of energy, I cant explain how bad it is. I feel like my battery had died. My dr. doesnt know what to do, or what kind of problem this is. Ive gone from 267 to 228.

I dont know if this is my fat thermostat? I was quilting yesterday at my friends home. She keep her ac at 82. I forced myself to continue, and just litterally poured sweat. I did take meds for nausea and dizziness. But it doesnt change the fact I can no longer handle the heat? I also have issues if it gets too cold? Maybe its just age. lol

Having no thyroid, I have trouble with my body temperatures. I'm hoping by the time summer comes and I have lost a lot more weight, that I will survive this year, but you appear to be having the opposite problem? You've lost and you're feeling hotter? How long has it been happening? It could be all sorts of things causing it, eg, your body spending more energy digesting better, unprocessed, more 'raw' foods?

    Hope it improves :)

I have always been cold blooded--it doesn't matter if I'm on the heavy side or if I'm thin. That is why I refuse to complain about the heat, even thought it isn't pleasant to exercise in. :-\ Winter is just around the corner, and I'll be complaining PLENTY then! :-p

When I became vegetarian 31 years back, I seemed to change to feel cold more, and then when I got electrocuted five years back, it seems like my body is hot all the time, without heat going out the normal way or something. I can't say anything about weight loss, other than the vegetarian part. There can be hormone fluctuations increased or caused by food and weight, so you could ask a doctor. Oops, I see that you did, so maybe someone else like an acupuncture person could help--good luck.

Your thyroid/hormones could be the issue ....your metabolism has obviously picked up pace. The nausea is a hyperthyroidism symptom. get your levels checked and compare them to your last test results. Write down all of your symptoms, keep a diary so that your doctor can help you... if he can not diagnose you I suggest that you contact a naturopathic doctor... (im pre-med but partial towards complimentary treatment)

I will have my dr. check my throid again, I think its pretty much dead due to other meds Ive been on. I find myself eatting more cold foods, trying to cool off, ie. cherry tomatos, cucumbers, grapes, cherries. Maybe Im doing that wrong, cuasing my body to heat up? I dont know. However: i do know this doesnt feel good. lol. I will continue to loose weight to my goal. I really just cant wait for the season change. Thank you guys.

Im surprised at how many of the Menopause symptoms I have, Im fairly sure this could be part of the issue. I will talk to my dr about this also. I know I can just be sitting on the sofa and suddenly I am all sweaty, the sofa wet, or the same thing in the middle of the night, So that would be night and day sweats. lol. Thank you very much for this posting.

I worked with a women going through the beginning symptoms... like the hot flashes and heat intolerance and she was in great physical shape, great weight also about your age. So your post just made me think of that. She went on vacation and said she did not have symptom like she normally had, kind of a mental feel good state you may be in during a vacation time period.

I used to be warm or hot all the time, but now I am freezing with a/c on. My kids had to beg me to turn the a/c on in my car yesterday. I had goosebumps and it was around 90 degrees. I'd be happy with a fan only in my house at this point.

I am usually "cold blooded'"....when everyone else is comfortable, I'm freezing! Have to always carry a lite jacket just in case of a cool evening, or going somewhere with air conditioning, like the movie theater.. But this totally changes when I go to sleep. When I'm sleep, my body temperature shoots up, and I often wake up drenched if I don't sleep without a fan. It seemed that it wasn't as bad when I was heavier. ( heaviest: 234, now 182) but now that I've started exercing and the sleep sweats are back. Wondering if anyone else has this problem and where does it come from. I'm 34 yrs old and this has been going on most of my adult life.

I used to be cold constantly, it could be 85* and I'd need a sweatshirt, but recently I'm always hot. It's been 70's to low 80's here and I'm too hot. It's a weird change and I actually miss being cold!

As others have said your symptoms sound more like menopause than weight loss.

I've found this winter really cold. I used to be able to commute with a cardigan on. I have the cardigan, new coat, scarf, mittens and beanie and am still frozen.

Yes!!! I have lost 10kg and it broke my thermostat. I was always a cold frog but I get ridiculously cold now. My family will be in shorts and T-shirt and I will be in long pants and a jumper and still be cold!

I have had very poor thermoregulation since a hysterectomy many years ago. Since losing weight I am even colder. I also have no thyroid but am on supplementation that should take care of that.

Hot flashes lasted way too many years, actually I still have them on occasion. Preceded by freezing and a feeling of great unease, then pouring sweat and intolerably hot.

You rather offhandedly say that you think your thyroid is dead. Do you have any basis for this? Have you been tested? You need supplementation if your thyroid function is poor. It is not something to be so dismissive of.

If you are old enough for menopause that is also something that you can be tested for. They check your hormone levels and determine your place in the inevitable sequence of events.

Good luck with this. It is something many women struggle with.
