    My 14 year old son plays bass - I just bought him an anniversary edition Fender from e-bay which he LOVES. He's taking a free bass workshop tomorrow night at a local music shop. What kind of music do you play?

    Mine is a Fender precision bass special, bought it in a music shop. I started out learning heavy metal like ozzy and van halen and many other bands because my dad plays the guitar and those were his influences. My main genre would have to be blues.... A good starting point.. I learned a little jazz, but now im into funk-slap and popping. I play a lot of bluegrass too since my grandpa plays it. But I can play almost any style.

    I play bass....very little. I've been teaching myself for a while, just playing along with songs but I'm getting better at adding bass lines and whatnot...I'm really just messing around with it, but i LOVE the sound of bass and how it draws everything together- i guess it stems from me being a soprano and wanting to really get a feel for the bass, i dont know....

    My son is getting quite proficient at bass. He's 17 (pic of hm in my profile) and has been playing for a couple years now. He just got a REAL nice one from a friend (can't remember the brand). He can play lots of Metalica stuff. They rock!!

    hahaha thats awesome. Yeah metallica are great! I used to listen to them all the time.

    I used to listen to Metallica too.

    I generally play RHCP because I'm obsessed with flea's bass lines.

    I love the piano. My bass playing has taken backseat due to my piano playing.

    Flea is AMAZING! he and Les Claypool!! One day I hope to play like them! I finally can slap and pop now. Took me a while to learn and im loving it a lot!

    I play a little from time to time. I would have to say that my main influences are Pink Floyd and Rush.

    Listen to the bass line in "One of These Days" by Pink Floyd and you'll understand why I like them so much.

    My son just went to a bass workshop yesterday put on by the one and only VICTOR WOOTSEN. He was amazing. Even signed my sons guitar. If you don't know who he is - Google or You Tube him. Truly one of a kind.
